  • XSive Status vs.Post Count

One of the little things I like abt this forum, even though it is somewhat frivolous, are the various status rankings awarded to members as their post count accumulates. So I have never seen here anyone ask the Mods...What are all the status ranks and at what predetermined # of posts do they coincide??Obviously I'm a long way from Guru and that in itself is unimportant...but I just thought it is a nice extra touch to one's bragging rights ...LOL

"Man... something smells rank around here."

    Standard ranking is:

    0 - 99 XSive

    100 - 199 Truly XSive

    200 - 499 XStremely XSive

    500 - 999 XSive Maximus

    1000+ GURU

Now, there are exceptions made, for special cases.
HobbyMan, (that young upstart), comes to mind.
Fluffing his way to the top... with his ritalin-induced drivel,
was well on his way to GURU within six months of signing on.
Ahh.. but along the way, he learned much, and his knowledge and advice is just as solid as that of any GURU of long standing.

In jest, his official rank, as you'll note, is "Meat Head Idiot Guru".

Hey, Watch it there PRO... Just kidding. ITs not all fluff..... I just like to have some nice "conversations" on the side. This post qualifies as one of those. I like to think of myself as a (not so silent) silent observer. Maby one of these days I will know as much as I think I do.

There oughta be a special classification just for TC.
I'll click on a post where no one has yet answered and start typing...
I'll then click reply and there's TC's post and he already has a second one ready to correct me before I've finished clicking.

          Post whiners

On another forum I asked abt starting something like this. All i got was a woeful response from ppl who think that anybody can run their post count up and be a post ho where the quanity out weighs the quality of the posts. This other forum does list the post count but gives no ranking...Also many ppl felt this was disrespectful of other members...go figure...at any rate I see nothing evil abt it...but maybe it is a little immature...however to each forum...their own way......it really matters.. not to me...but Thanks Prom for the breakdown

For me I'm always a day late and a dollar short. When someone else beats me to a helpful answer I don't reply. I figure why repeat something someone else has said. Unless I can say something they other had not said to help out then I do. I haven't reached a 100 yet. Been at it for a couple years. Helped a few I'd like to think. I figure I may be at it for about ten years to make the almighty GURU.

Hey I want a catchy title! I completely took apart my bike and reassembled it into something vaguely resembling an XS11 in just over 100 posts. That outta be worth something.
              1979 XS11 Special (slightly modified)
              dubbed the "Mad Mosquito"

              MikesXs Pod Filters
              MikesXs 35k Coils
              8mm plug wires
              42.5 Pilots 142.5 Mains
              (Carb tune by GNEPIG Performance)
              Kerker 4-into-1
              Shaved emblems
              Progressive frt springs lowered 1.5"
              Progressive 11.5" rear shocks
              Harley Dyna rear fender chopped
Custm side mt tag (apparently illegal)
              Custom Dual Headlights
Lots of time and hard work.

                "Well, let's see..."

                What title befits someone who...
Completely takes apart a bike, and then has to ask a hundred questions in order to put it back together?
(Keeping in mind that it now only "vaguely resembles" the original machine)

Maybe that "aughtta be worth something"... sadly, it isn't.
It just shows that you didn't build model cars nor had an erector set to play with as a child.

                Now then...
I shall make you an offer.

I will, by executive moderator decree, ordain you as "Master Builder Deluxe" provided that you...
                1. Put together a project bike that was given me.
                2. Can do so without having to ask further questions.
                3. All work, minus painting, to be done in my unheated garage.
(Along with your new title, you also receive the title to the bike.)

Should you fail in your task... your current total of 113 posts shall be reduced to zero, and you get to start all over again as a newby.

Here is your project as it was given to me.

(Uhmm... this offer does not apply to DennyZ, Wa407mpp, Davestrike, Johnboi... or any other member who lives close enough to actually take me up on this offer)

                        Boring machine????

Prom, I see a cylinder boring machine in the pic. Something I would love to have use of. I'm looking at turning this spare motor into 1179 cc. Oh well, guess I gotta take my chances with a shop that will probably charge me too much and screw it up too.... Wish I was closer to you, I assemble that bike, but it would have to wait for warmer weather...

"I too am waiting for warmer weather..."

                          .. and a cleaner garage.
Photo was taking at the shop... hence the Victorys and Triumphs still in their crates.
Boring machine belonged to one of the old mechanics, though I did scarf up the solvent tank when the shop closed last year.

Crikey! Hard to believe I haven't had a wrench in my hand(nor a paycheck in my wallet) for seven months now.

                            Hi Dan,
I gotta bike that looks like that but I WILL get the thing running again, honest.
From the previous posts it seems that all you have to do is show up at Pro's unheated garage, assemble the machine and it's yours to drive away.

                              Stralya,
From what I've seen in the picture, the bike is a 1979 SF. The round turn signals, the front forks, all say "Special" to me. I would think with about a month of "nothing to do", it should be running! Heck, I'll bet Prom might even be able to sell it for money, to help buy beer and pret... food, yeah, I was going to say food.
