Some time ago I purchased a polishing kit from Caswell and I needed to clean up a front wheel from the parts bike I bought so I could put it on Pathfinder because it's a tubless rim. Man it was horrible, never been cleaned I don't think and the aluminum was really bad. I wish I had taken pics before I started but alas.... The aluminum polishing things from Caswell worked awsome. Now the aluminum autside of the rim looks chrome plated. I made a polishing setup with a flexshaft and a 1/3 HP motor and it worked fine. I will have to remove the discs and clean everything and paint the black because it looks really bad now next to the polished aluminum.

Worthless shine
I realize men are visually stimulated, but you will just have to learn to use your imagination. It is such a PITA to post pics here. Get the camera out, take the pics, load them in the desktop which I have to wait for it to load windows etc, open Corel Draw and resize so the thread isn't a mile wide, load them into Photodump, then copy and past the image tag here. All for trying to show some shine that probably won't show up very well in a small pic here anyway...... I would really rather polish or ride....You can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life...

While ya got it off, get yourself some rounded top, stainless bolts for the rotors. I did it when I changed tires and it look REALLY good.
Another way to save a step in the pic process is to lower the pic quality/size on the camera itself. Speaking only for myself, most of the pics I take are intended for email/forum/ebay use. So, the giant print quality photos are just a waist of time and camera memory.

As I said...
I wish I had taken before pics. It was necessary to start with 120 grit emery cloth to take away the corrosion and flat sand the spokes as well. The sanding left a rather rough finish, but the Caswell things really changed that. The black surfaces are really in bad shape yet, plus in the center covered with a greasy residue so I'm going to disassemble the wheel and paint everything including rotors. Man, lots of work just to get a tubless rim on the front....You can't stay young forever, but you can be immature for the rest of your life...
