Good Lord! I went to college in Menomonie. Met my wife there. Used to bartend at the Knapp House, nice restataunt out of town a ways. Is the Silver Dollar still on Main? We called it "The Buck" in those days.

Some good fall riding in the area: Knapp Hill, Spring Valley, go down along the Mississippi through the small towns; sort of like the Rustic Roads thread but the roads are better.

Used to have ice races on the the lake, and every spring someone would put an old car out there and take bets on when it would fall though the ice. (Car had a cable on it so it could be pulled out later.)

Bought a Honda 450 at Michalbrook Marine along the south side of town.

My brother graduated from Stout State (Excuse me...University of Wisconsin - Stout) a few years later. Stout was an early lumber barron, donated the land and such to the state but specified the name Stout would always appear in the campus name. Most U of W campuses are named after the city they are in, such as UW-Madison or UW-Milwaukee, but not UW-Stout in Menomonie.

I suppose I should get back for a visit, left in 1977 to move to Colorado the first time.
