  • SHE'S DONE ... so to speak :-)

Today i received the last of the parts I need to make my 1979 1100F a complete factory restored bike. I was very lucky to find a full set of near NOS body parts. I got a tank, both body covers, the tail cowl and seat accent strips in EXCELLENT condition. The story behind the parts is that a buyer of the bike in 1979 did not like red so he took the parts off the bike and put them in boxes. He switched them out for the silver color scheme. So there is very light cardboard box rub marks on the paint but thats it. All paint is factory.
WOW I am a happy camper I'll tell ya. This saves me the $400 or more it would have cost for a non Factory paint job.

Mason, I think the stripes are different between the '78 and '79, as well as the color. It does look as if the tank and side covers ARE from a '78, so I think the PO didn't know what he had???
My guess is the tank, etc. is from a '78, and the owner bought the '79 silver parts when they came out.

The 1978 and 1979 reds are so close that I don't know that anyone would know the difference unless the tow were side by side in GOOD light. But YES the color code name between 1978 and 1979 is different. If these parts are in deed from a 1978 bike they are in near perfect condition and the price was acceptable given the cost of painting them for best possible match.
I never noticed a difference in stripping but it may be the case.
these badges however are MINT which is nice. so before I put the bike into winter storage I will install these parts and call this bike DONE :-)

LOL LOL I will when I get the 1978 together .. It's still coming together in my mind. I have every part but the frame must be completed before I can put her together. I will however post photos of the non-identical twins when she (the 78) is complete

                    very cool

If that tank is as nice on the inside as it is outside,
it's worth more than I've paid for most of my XSes
Looking forward to seeing your bike.

The inside has only very LIGHT rust ... like dust ... and I got all the parts for .... 500 Canadian including shipping. It was a good and fair deal.
