    Hey Mike,

Yes, if a person uses LOSSLESS format like BMP or TIFF, then a 3500x2300 sized photo would be much larger than the 2mb limit that Wes placed on these uploads.

I have a photo in the above dimensions done by a pro-photog of me running Deal's Gap, was about 3.9mb in least compressed JPG format! I loaded it into my simple MS Paint, and then just resaved it, and MSpaint put a modest compression to it that brought it down to ~1MB! I've a got a better photo editting program so I can set the compression to whatever I want to get the Mbytes File size I want, closer to the 2MB to get as much clarity as possible. But the ~1mb photo didn't look any blurrier than the ~4mb version!

Hey WildKat, those photos look good, but I'm still concerned at how they'll look printed to 8x10 or even 11x14 size!?

I think Randy has a nice almost all stock looking 78E, just has some fancy painting on his carbs!

Okay, with examples of each model/year.....
    78E, 79F, 79SF, 80G, 80SG, 80MNS, 81H, 81SH, 81MNS, 81 Venturer, 82XJ1100.......that's 11, only leaves room for 1 MOD or duplicate!

So....I still think "WE" need to ask folks to use the LINK WES provided and send their HI-RES photos there for Kat and JIM to utilize in making quality calenders!

      Well...

I don't plan on doing an 11x14 size... so that won't be a problem...

They may not print out great at 11 x 8.5 either... but I don't think a good quality printer will have a problem with what's there... These are just for input anyway and I'll be making certain they print well... but I only have what I have to work with...

So... my solution is this... I'm making a calendar with bikes I like... I will post the pics for all to see... anyone who wants a calendar... can get one... If I can get them printed for a reasonable amount, then I will be giving at least $1 to the site... if I can't... then I will charge cost and shipping.

I don't have time at this point in time to wait and see if someone can get a pic of every type of bike to put in the calendar but I am trying to get a good representation of each style. As I get better quality photos, I will be glad to adjust as needed... but I'm not holding my breath... not everyone has a great quality camera, so I'll use what I have and do what I can...

Sadly, the 2MB is a PHP-enforced limit my host subjects me to. It's annoying, to say the least. I'm working on a script that can grab files in peices to beat that limit.

5MP images come out of my camera (Fuji FinePix) at only 1.2MB each.

5MP is the minimum for a decent 8.5 x 11 (actually 10.8" X 8.1") print quality at 240dpi. You want at least 6MP or more of you use a higher DPI. Photoshop does a pretty good job of resampling a lower resolution image and resizing it accordingly. Others may, as well... The printer may handle this automatically, too.

WK, I'll send you the info for getting the photos from the site.

Has anybody submitted a pic of a 80 XS 1100 Special. If not and you would like I will take some this weekend. Suppose to be good weather. I would love a calendar of these bikes.

              Hey WildKat,

I wasn't implying that you HAD to include all of those models and years, was just running down to list to see how many different ones there were, was actually surprised to see that many!?

I would think the BIKE PHOTO thread would be a good place to start. And then you/we could ASK the members that submitted photos and bikes that you liked to send in a HI-RES copy to the upload link Wes provided!

I think a good Modded XJ1100 to show would be Maximan's, don't bother editting OUT his SWMBO!

BTW, along with the bike photos, are you going to include a little TEXT Blurb about who's bike, what year/model it is, and any mods, or other interesting tidbits about it, ie. like Randy's being rescued from a SWAMP!

BTW, when you do access Wes' upload site, you'll find an ACTION shot of me and Godzilla running thru Deal's Gap, with Brent a couple of seconds behind me! If you use it, okay, if not, okay!

I know... it's all good... being a "flakey artist type"... ahem... I usually do my own thing anyway...

I already have a BUNCH of pictures on my hard drive from the Bike Photos thread... all of them, in fact... I loaded them up when I was doing the graphics for the new site some time ago...

I'm not doing any pages with people... hate to detract from the bikes (not that anyone of the owners here would detract from the bike... but that's another thread)... and yes... I do plan on putting some info regarding each bike and their owner... except on one of the pages and it will be apparent why when I post the pic...
and I'm trying to stay away from the mods so that I won't step on Jim's toes... but I would like to use MAXIMAN's... simply because it is a fine piece of machinery... and we'll need something to remember it by...

Old bikers never die, they're just out of sight!

My recently re-built, hopped up '79 Special caught fire and burned everything from the top of the engine up: gas tank, wiring, seat, & melted my windshield all over the front of the bike. Just bought a 1980 Special that has been non oped for 9 years. My Skoot will rise from the ashes and be re named "The Phoenix!"
                  I've been riding since 1959.

I plan on having the 2008 Calendar ready for purchase by the !st week of December at the latest. I believe wildkat is doing one of Stock bikes, while mine will be of Modified/Customs. That way more bikes are featured and members will have a choice.

From last PM with Kat, I thought we were both doing an 08, her with stockers, me with mods. I do think she is also gonna do an 09, but I'm not sure.

                            I'm sorry... my fault...

when I said that I would be glad to take up the torch on this one unless somebody else wants to do it... I should have said... "after I post this... I'm going to start playing with some photos for a calendar since I doubt anyone else will want to do it... and it will be fun to do it."
Much to my surprise... someone else wanted to do it too...

Since I already had some pics done, Jim was kind enough to agree that we do 2 calendars for 2008... and like he said... he's doing mainly mods and I am doing mainly stock.
