Final drive woes / parts needed

    Glad it worked for you. That final drive hasn't had TOO many wheelies done on it!


    I may have to come to Colorado sometime to look at it in person... I could use a tour guide! It's on my list of "Things to do". I lived in Denver for a few months way back and loved the countryside and the roads in the mountains.

      Drive shaft photos

      Here are 3 photos showing my old drive shaft splines compared to a replacement shaft. These are the splines on the differential (final drive) end of the shaft:

      As you can see, splines are well over half-gone on the OEM shaft. Differential (final drive) splines were similarly worn.

      Moral: Check those splines and grease them!
