I learned of the dangers of gravel/sand my first year of riding. About 20 mph around an uphill turn that banked to the out side. They had been hauling base rock out from the inside of the turn. My '82 650 Maxim and I went down so fast I didn't realize what was going on until I had almost stopped rolling. Smashed my helmet on the ground hard, tore the elbow of my thermal, and was pissed. Good lesson, was sore for a couple days.

I have gong down 3 times and had several 'close" calls with death but never sustained a injury that left any scars or permanent damage. I have to date never broken a bone in my body.

1st down- ran my XS500 into the ditch at about 15 MPH went over the bars. got bruised up
2nd down - was passenger and driver mis judged the dividing curb and tore the front side cover off the bike and we went into the curb 3 lanes away .. speed unknown .. got bruised up.
3rd Down - had to run square into the back of a car as there was no stopping on the wire surfaced bridge.... went over the bars and into the back window head first ... was shook up pretty good and had some memory issues for a week and got bruised up.
4th down - hoping it doesn't happen any time soon.

        rear ended

Rear ended 4 times, each time the bike whent one way and I the other, luckily just bruises and scrapes, the bikes well minor damages......never had an accident with the XS11 yet hoping it stay that way.......

Been on the scene of several accidents involving bikes once saw this poor fellow who came out of a hi-speed accident quite well, he landed on some dry grass and because his leathers caught fire from friction during his slide the poor chap set the grass on fire underneath him, we quickly put out the fire and escorted him to the hospial he was OK but I guess the police found illegal substances on him

In 93 I was living in Arizona. Me and the Girlfriend were on my Ducati 888 and a Buddy and his Girlfriend on his Ducati 851, Riding across the desert on the way to Vegas we encountered a wind/sand storm and both bikes went down.
I was in the lead and Greg was about 50 feet back. Everybody slid down the road bikes bodies.Full leather and helmets for everybody.
3 of us walked away unharmed just a lot of road rash. I however got hit by a sliding 851 and broke my ankle 4 ribs and split a Shoei wide open.
Nearest town was 50 miles away and we all got a Helicopter ride to Henderson Nevada the bikes were taken to Chloride and on the return home in the rental Van we picked both of them up.
The 888 sat in Greg's moms garage in Tempe until 98 and I had it shipped to Michigan, It's upstairs in the barn pretty much the way it was picked up in the desert that night.
I hate signatures. Too many cars and Bikes to list here.
