I love you all. I really do. I may not agree with everything you say, it may disgust me when you post a video of you poping off a bunny with a pellet gun, but I still love you. And I mean that in the totally platonic sense, okay?

Everyone likes a spirited debate but there are going to be things that we're never going to agree upon. So to keep things nice can we please avoid the topics that are going to get a lot of people upset and calling names and such? Suggestions of topics to avoid would be politics and religion. Sex is okay because, frankly, who are we going to upset except for WildKat and I think she could take it. So what else does that leave us? Bikes, let's talk about bikes. Yeah that's a safe subject. On with the Harley bashing!

There's a small number of folk in here that have forgotten their manners and gotten too caught up in the role-playing. It has nothing to do with a topic, it has to do with people on the internet having a certain amount of anonymity and being able to behave in ways that they never would in real live.

This used to be a cool board and will be again. Right now you've got a small group of guys just itching to get into a scrap. I know the gun poll will always bring it out but lately pretty much any topic can lead to silliness.

Usually these folks are the ones least likely to do so in real life. You've got one member attacking other members because he claims he has to protect them. from what? Who who knows. I'd give $100 bucks to see the other guy who used the "N" word in a recent thread walk up to a black man on the street and use it to his face. Of course he's not going to do that because either a) he'd be embarrased or b) get his butt kicked. In here of course, everyone's a bad dude, a real rebel because the worst that can happen is he get's a nasty resopnse....

The only thing that will fix this will be some heavy-handedness on the part of the admins. They'll take a bunch of heat for it but the worst offenders either then toe the line, or quit in disgust, either way the problem get's resolved. It will clean things up for a while until the next time.

Such is the nature of the public forum. It goes through cycles. We're currently in a down cycle.

It seems to me that the "admins" have allready fixed that thread and you are trying to restart it. That horse is dead, stop beating it.

As far as who I am, I'm far more passive on this website than in real life. I have called the "kettle black" and had my @ss whipped for it, big deal, We all need a good @ss whoppin once in a while.

nah, it's just the silly season. There is no need for draconian measures because it will pass away on it's own soon enough. It's like the newspapers when parliament closes but the hockey season ain't started yet. All manner of twaddle gets printed simply to fill the blank spaces between the advertisements. And right now is the motorcycle silly season, Too cold for serious bike riding so fewer posts about that and too warm for a winter teardown so fewer posts about that too. So there's this partial vacuum that cries to be filled. Sometimes it gets filled with jolly badinage like the ongoing string concerning Wildkat's supposed gender & preferences. Sometimes it gets nasty but sh!t happens and then it gets cleaned up.

A few things to consider when posting here:

We're a community of bikers who share an interest in a singular model of bike. Bikers naturally like to ride and group rides are fun. So unlike many other internet forums, there is a good chance that you'll meet some of these people in real life in a group ride. That person you just flamed could have been a great travelling buddy. Don't let a petty dispuste ruin that opportunity.

And, since we share a common interest in one model of bike, that person you just flamed could be the person to provide you with that part you need to keep your bike on the road. For free. So carefully consider this before posting that torch.
