  • Bones are broken but at least the fox is dead

A week ago last night I had my first mishap while moving. No recollection of the accident but as I understand it, without yet seeing the police report, somehow a fox took me out. I was just passing through my town after a nice day. A couple miles from home naturally. Wish I knew what happened, to know if I did anything wrong or could have done anything different. To those of you who don't wear full face helmets.

    GET ONE!!

    Returned from hospital last night.
Collar bone, shoulder blade, 7 ribs, one lung down for a while I guess. By the way, I was on the ST, not the XS, luckily. Haven't yet seen the bike.

Gotta get back into my recliner now for the next, like 12 hours....

                  Wow, a Fox, eh?

I see the little bastards around here fairly often, as well as badgers and other larger rodents. Man..never thought they could be so damaging.

Glad you're still among the living! Here's wishing you a speedy recovery!

Hitting just about anything on the road when your on 2 wheels can put you down and down fast. Think about hitting a medium sized dog at 50 MPH ??? Unless your lucky that'll put you down pretty fast just as this fox did to Lax dad.
Lax dad you made a comment about getting full face helmets but said nothing about facial injury's?

Maybe the full face was the reason there was no mention of facial injuries. I will certainly always wear a full face or modular.

Sorry to hear about the crash. I am surprised that a fox could take you down. I once ran over a cat while laid over in a corner. After cleaning my pants I realized that it only amounted to a bump. I am also curious about the full face comment. Hope you do recover ok.

but such a calamity to me would lay me up for close to a year to fully recover...if I could fully recover.

                              Laxdad

Glad to hear you survived. Sounds like you did not have a full face helmet?

A good friend of mine hit a Javelina hog in west Texas a few years back. They are not big ...about 40 lbs. He was on a Goldwing going about 80 mph. Cut the hog right in half and blew guts up all around the bike fairing and seat. Didn't lay the bike down though and did no damage.

Wished you'd have been so lucky.
