What do you guys who wear prescription eyeglasses do for eye protection when riding? Full face helmets, shields, prescription goggles? I'm probably just going to get a 3 snap flip shield for my open face helmet but thought some of you might have other ideas.

Have used open and full face, full-face is a PITA but doable. I put my glasses in the seat, pull on helmet, put on glasses...have had the glasses slide of the seat several times.

New generation of flip up helmets looks to be the best way to go. When I have $$ for a new helmet will try one of those out. You can look at the Shoei version at:

Glasses with a flip up helmet... although the flip up part gets caught on my glasses and I don't use it... so like Jerry... glasses off... helmet on... glasses on... PITA... but it's been so long I am accustomed to it...
I now usually hook my glasses over the gas cap to keep them from vibrating onto the ground...

Not impared, but I usually ride with sunglasses on. Actually, it's a pair of Wiley-X SG1 military goggles with temples. I ride with a Nolan modular, similar to the Shoeis that Jerry just posted, and they fit under it quite nicely using the same technique, even being as thick as they are.

Highway patrol half helmet with the flaps for cold weather and a flip shield. My transition lenses will not darken under the clear shield so I carry a tinted too.

Been riding for 31 years with an open-face helmet and prescription glasses.

I usually use glass lenses with photo-grey so they double as sunglasses. Right now I have my first set of plastic lenses with Transitions tint. I don't like it nearly as much. The anti glare coating started coming off in less than a year (not from biking, just cheap crap)

When I got contact lenses, a few years ago, I was given a pair of PEEKS sunglasses, made specifically for motorcycling. They have a 'gasket' that goes up against your face so that wind and what not doesn't get in behind them.

I got halfway across town, first time I wore my contacts on a bike, before I realized I had NO eye protection at all!
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

              Same as fer sunglasses...
First the helmet, then the glasses.

I have a flip-up style and wear sunglasses also... but I pull out on the bottom of the helmet when taking it off and putting it on and have glasses on while I do either. Every now and then it tries to take them off when taking the helmet off... but never have problems putting it on with them.

I wear contacts but have the same pita with the on and off sunglasses. I wear Serengeti drivers so i don't have to take them on and off as conditions change.

                    2 pair

I wear prescription tri-focals and no problem getting the helmet on or off and I have a pair of prescription sunglasses with only the lpng distance part. I only wear a face shield if it's raining, but I sit behind a windsheild too.

I wear a 3/4 helmet and leave my glasses on when putting the helmet on,no problem. Misplaced my sunglasses about two weeks ago and have been wearing safety(mirrored) glasses over the top of my scripts, look ok,a little uncomfortable after an hour or so around the ears.

I wear a half shell helmet, and were glasses. My bike has a large windshield, so I don't use any other form of eye protection. In the winter I do use a full face, and taking the specs off and on to put on the helmet is a real pain.

I have moved with the changing times and the improved technology.
                          Starting a half century ago
plastic goggles and a Corker helmet (Yes! It was made from cork! Same technology as a British Bobbies helmet)
Moved up to an ACU approved helmet made from phonolic & cloth laminate with a fabric & leather inner harness (what you'd call a half-helmet, they were all like that shape then) and Stadium Mk10 laminated glass goggles.
Next was a 3/4 helmet, finally I'd moved up to the modern fiberglass shell & foam liner. It had a click-up visor that snapped onto the helmet shell. By then I needed glasses to see down the road with as well as for reading.
Then a series of full-face helmets, replaced as they wore out and yeah, the on again off again with the glasses & helmet is a right royal pain.
I must admit that since going back into sidecars I have been borrowing my wife's 3/4 helmet to avoid the glasses hassle.

I wear a full face Simpson helmet with sunglasses day and no glasses night. I have the glasses on before installing or removing the helmet. Now I dont know if this works for all full face helmets but a long time ago a guy showed me what he says is the correct way to put on a helmet. You do not just pull it down on but instead you put your face into the bottom of the helmet and then rotate the thing down onto your head. works for me every time and my helmet is kind of snug (the way I like it).

I went with an open face helmet and can get it on while wearing the glasses. I don't like the way it presses them to my head. Considering LASIK or otherwise so I can finally wear sunglasses. Have a hard time finding clip on's that don't make me look like I just had cataract surgery or something. I guess prescription sunglasses are another good alternative but I can barely keep up with one pair of glasses and I don't exactly have a glove box on the bike to stash them in.

                              Thanks for all your responses!
