She was sitting up, watching a baseball game this afternoon... and is now moving from ICU to PCU... AND she's good enough so that they are talking about releasing her to a rehab hospital tomorrow

If I can make at least one person smile, or pee their pants a little, or maybe spit out their drink; then my day is not wasted.
No matter how old you get, you still need 'em. My mother died young but my father is still kicking. As much as I know that we are all mortal and Dad is a carbon based life form, when he goes I'll cry like a six year old. I want to be a 100 year old first time orphan and even then I'll miss him. Go tell your Dad/Mum you love him/her right now, go on, now!

Dad passed away in '91... Mom's EVERYthing for my brother and I (nothing to say about my idiot sister)... While we know that she isn't going to be here forever... we want to keep her around for as long as we can.
They want to send Mom home today... I'd rather her go to the rehab hospital for a couple more days though... at least she's getting stronger.

as she had me when she was 42 (she's 81 now.... will be 82 in a couple of weeks)...
I used to say that my sister was the bundle of joy...
my brother the gag gift...
and I was the surprise package...
Though at this point in time... my brother and sister have switched designations...
(I have an awesome brother)

Mom came home today... she has been in the rehab center since Friday...
Unfortunately, a lab tech who took blood on Saturday stuck her followed by an "Uh oh" followed by a lot of pain... Sunday her arm was swollen... today it was swollen and red... I'm taking her back to the hospital tomorrow morning to see if it's phlebitis...
This same "skilled nursing facility" gave her sugar with her meals... sweets for dessert and high sodium meals... She is diabetic... with high blood pressure and high cholesterol... When this was pointed out by my brother (who is a Dr.) they changed the diet on Saturday evening... This morning for breakfast... they gave her bacon...
I won't go into everything else they did wrong... and I would gladly point out what they did right... if there was anything... Her roommate was having very similar problems with the staff...
They did have her do some physical therapy though and she really enjoyed that so there was something positive, I guess...
On the bright side... she is well enough to be home... and she is...
Thank you all very much for your continued prayers and positive thoughts!
Truly awesome bunch of folks here!

That's great news that's she home now. I don't know what some people are thinking at times.
When my late father-in-law was in the hosipital he had problems associated with low blood sugar. He was diabetic and they knew it so I don't know why or how they let is levels drop real low. There are some really good ones and some really daft ones out there.
All the best.
