Pro, TC mentioned them in the hijacked thread that started this all....
I like them a lot myself.
WK, I'm just the opposite from you about Metallica. Their old stuff was their best to me. The new stuff is just so...commercial. Fade to Black (on the Master of Puppets album) is one of their best songs to me. Many of their early fans (when they were the most popular) have abandoned them in the last few years...
I'm about to acquire a 1400 CD collection from a friend of mine. Can't wait to see what all's in it. The beauty of it is that it all fits on less than half of a 200GB hard drive.
Will take forever to go through it all.

Some men miss opportunity because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work. - Thomas Edison
I have found, is really good when polishing on the bike... maybe it's the heavy metal... or the lead singer in leather (maybe I should post this in the other thread)
I haven't listened to Master of Puppets since I was... well... it's been a long time... I really liked the Black album though... I think Unforgiven is a great song and so is Nothing Else Matters... but you are right... they certainly did go commercial... They became a totally different band and I can see why the Metallica purists turned away from them...
I listen to so many different kinds of music it's really difficult to pinpoint favorites... I have a couple of Glenn Miller CD's that I like... Beethoven... Debussey... pretty much EVERYthing from the 70's, a lot from the 80's and some from the 90's...
Jimi Hendrix's version of Little Wing... Clapton's version of Little Wing... I understand that SRV did one too but I don't know that I have heard it... if so... I'm a baaaaaaaaaad Texan...

I meant to comment on your friend's collection...
WHOA!
There's got to be some good stuff in there somewhere...
Congrats!

I'm not a big fan of R n B, so most of Stevie's own music does not appeal to me, (I hate to say this) but I swear that guy play's the Hendrix tunes better than Hendrix did.
That was pretty cool... and of course while I was at You Tube I had to do a comparison of the three of them... I even found a video of Sting doing a version of Little Wing but had to stop it within the first couple of minutes... It was just a bit too much for me this evening...
SRV was good, but I think I'm partial to the more fluid Clapton version... I like SRV but more so when he was playing songs like The Sky is Crying or Mary Had a Little Lamb...
