  • Many Thanks

I am now officially an XSer. Even though I've had my bike for over a year, until last Thursday I had been able to put a total of 2 miles on it.

With out the help of many people here, Andreas, Frednstoon, Ken Talbot, TopCatGr (sp) many forum posters and even some of thier freinds, this project would still be on the back burner.

The project is not over, but the 'Junkyard Dog' runs in the wind once more. I am very quickly getting all the quirks ironed out, and it runs better each time I get it out.

Right now the bike is running on a transplanted engine, from an '81 Special, I am in the process of rebuilding and modding the original, and will hopefully have it all ready by next summer. Having the donor engine allows me to take my time and do all the nit picky things that need to be done, wait for parts, and all those other little delays that can happen, while I am still able to get out and enjoy the XS.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

And now that you have it to use on a regular basis you know why we love these 11s sooo much. There truly is no other bike like the 11

Good for you! Glad you have your machine running.

I know what you mean about the nit picky things. I have been toying witht he idea of giving my bike a makeover for her 30th birthday but I hate the thought of taking her our of service and having no ride for a month ot two.

oh sure., you are able to ride all year. .... I was out on a run yesterday and needed some warmer clothing already. A reminder that our riding season is ending soon. Think of us in the north, no riding from november to march 4 mthes, You can handle 4-8 wks please.... andreas

          Hey Andreas,

We're lucky to get out in March (closer to the end of April till all the snow, sand and salt gone) still but we still gotta pay the insurance companies for a full twelve months.

I've been known to drive mine nearly 12 months of the year. To the point where I have to boost the bike to get it running in the mornings.

Has it's advantages, motorcycle parking lot is pretty empty in December & January.

Have a nice picture of the '91 Ride the rockies Rally, with all the bikes in the snow. Won a trophy for that one, pulling my trailer through a blizzard to get there.

Getting old, though, do that stuff less and less.

Good argument, Andreas. You are absolutely right and have made up my mind for me (I am so easy). I think a 30 year makeover is in order.
