ok Ive looked a little and have had no luck so far. where can i get new coils and possably a new pickup coil

There's a few new ones listed on Ebay.BDF Special

If money is not an issue you can get them from your Yamaha dealer but if I am not mistaken they only sell the entire timing setup as a unit. Very pricey too, Also e-Bay as was mentioned and you should be able to get them at Bike bandit possibility old bike barn but they will be after Market units.
It's a lot cheaper to repair the ones you have unless the wires are broken off right at the pickup body. A soldering iron and some wire is a lot cheaper and works fine.

The PU Coil(s) are still available from Yamaha/bikebandit.com, but are a bit pricey:
3: PULSER COIL ASY 22830-001 $140.61
SO...as has been mentioned, the PU coils themselves rarely go bad, but the wires DO, and the instructions in the tech tips are pretty good in explaining how to fix them! Same thing for the ignition coils, the wires can be replaced...again, tech tip info. But the ignition coils can burn out, short internally, even intermittently due to expansion from heat! Testing info also in tech tips!
