Came across another CAD software that lets you download a reasonably powerful version for free. The strategy is that you will get to like the product, then move on and purchase the real thing from them, rather than from a competitor. This one is called Alibre Design Express and so far, it seems pretty good. Here's a screen shot of my first practice piece - the float pin removal tool:

Looks good Ken. I used your tool today, worked a charm Except that I found the PO had already broken the post off through the pin hole on carb #2 and not repaired it.
I use TurboCAD fopr my stuff. Not too pricey for those of you living in NA. I mainly need 2D, have done some 3D though for bracket design. Can't say if the 3D is easy or hard compared with other programs.

You can think of a lightning bolt as essentially a really really big bug zapper. Unfortunatey, we're the bugs.

With the little bit of exerience I have with this new product, I can do this fairly simple part in about 5 minutes. I have found that Alibre operates quite a bit differently than the Turbocad Designer 2D/3D that I have been using for a while. With Alibre, you basically start with a rectangle, extrude it into a block, then go to the various faces and extrude away the material you don't want.Ken Talbot
