  • Has anyone moved the foot controls FW

Hi Guys, how is it going.

I have a 82 XJ1100J and i'm doing some mods to it, and I was thinking on moving the foot controls forward, but obviously I will not find a kit that exactly fit my bike
So I was thinking that this is an XJ comunity and maybe someone already have done this, and maybe a picture or some tips will help me a lot.

Please let me know, if someone has any idea or picture.

    Thanks guys

I think someone has done a forward control for the XS/XJ. I would try a search on forward control, and see what you find.
Try this one for a start. http://www.xs11.com/forum/showthread...orward+control

Thanks John...hadn't looked for a while. After renting a HD softail....with forward controls I thought less of the idea. For me I didn't like it. Couldn't figure out where to put my feet.

Thanks guys, this is an awesome information source!!!!!!

I saw the kits on ebay, as I'm from Costa Rica, and some things are a little bit cheaper here, for example machining metal, I will have my machiniest copying the design of the ones in Ebay, but giving them a different appearance.

Let me explain myself, same bolt pattern, same plates, but different design foot rest and control.

I will post a picture when I get this done, so you can see it, and I will post the cost, in case someone wants a set, it can be made in CR and mailed to you.

            Thanks a lot again

Rask made both rear sets and forward controls/floor boards at one time for the XS.
              I've had both.
After trying both found I prefer stock
Don't remember who I sold the forward controls too and can't find the picks

                Another style.

                Hey Luischia,

Here's another thread in the TECH DISC. forum where I posted "MY" solution to this, you might find some useful info there! I wanted to keep my OEM controls AND have forward controls as well!

                  Thanks TopCat

I'm taking a little piece from every thread, so I can come up with the design that suit up my needs better.

                  Thanks to all of you.

                    Just for style

                    Hi Luischia,
So long as you realize the nature of your bargain, go for it!
What you get:- It looks good to the bystanders.
What you give up:- comfort & safety.
So if you want to pose outside the coffee shop and impress the girls, install forward controls.
If you want to actually go somewhere, don't.

                      Thanks for you concern fredintoon!!

But actually, as I have been customizing the bike i have change the whole shape of the rear portion of the frame, removed the upper portion (for the passenger seat), and lowered the drivers seat position about 2 or 3 inches, so with the lowered frame and a new seat, the stock position of the controls is akward now, my knees are too bent, maybe more than 90 degrees, thats the main reason on me wanting to install forward controls, to be able to stretch out my legs.

                      Thanks again for the advice

                      See you
