Hey all. Frank here from Washington. Just picked up a 80 XS 1100 SG. Pretty cool bike so far. Same ol story though. Sat inside for 10 years. Yada yada yada.

Just a couple of general questions I cant find in the search option.

It came with a Kerker 4 into 1,,, is that thing worth anything? Don't really care for the looks of it so I'm probably gonna change it out if I can find a decent set of stock pipes.

Any center stands floating around? The guy took off the stand to install the Kerker.

Any major diffrences in the standard, SG and Midnight?

On a side note, I got this from the guy that bought it new. He took pretty good care of it. Paid 350 and after cleaning all weekend she fire'd right up. Lacks power in the low end but I'm sure I can tune that away. Y'all got a pretty nice forum here. Lots of great info.

The Kirker is one of the best aftermarket systems for the bike. Stock is almost impossible to find, and it will probably set you back about $500 at a minimum.
The center stand you may be able to find online, (ebay), or from a member here.
The standard has different front forks, and the rear of the frame is different. The engines are all the same on the models year to year. The SG and Midnight are the same bike, except cosmetics.
No power down low is dirty carbs. Check the "tech tips" from the MAIN forum page, and follow directions to get ALL the passages clean. This bike has a LOT of bottom end, once everything is running correctly.

DO the triple cleaning on the carbs dude, and go with inline filters for about 15 tanks. Helped me a TON...

I think more work was done than Prometheus listed, including resusitating that low mileage 79 SG. That is a referance bike if there ever was one!

I have to agree, you'll want to keep those Kerker pipes. They're rare like hens teeth. Especially in that good of condition. I'd guess you will be making several more HP over stock with those attached. Just be sure not to break your face with the giant smile you'll have once you get it all tuned up right.

Hiya Frank. Nice rig. You need to dump that Kerker system. It will cause nuthin but grief with the increased mid range and top end. Cops will swarm on ya like bees. Late model riders will have there egos crushed when ya suck there mirrors off. Now, do ya really want to deal with all these issues?

OK,,,OK,,, I can take a hint. I guess I'll keep the header pipe. I was just wanting to take it back to stock since it just a knats ass away. But if someone does have a complete set of stockers they wanna trade lemme know!!!

Just to add something missed by the other posters: I don't think you'll be able to fit a center stand on with the kerkers. But I agree with the others that it's better with that exhaust and you'd pay more for a stock exhaust than you paid for the bike.

Hey Knarfie,

You can still use a Center Stand for repairs and maintanence, easier than side stand, and probably cheaper than a bike lift, just remove it when you're done working on it!

Or....if you have a welder, and grinder and such, then you could take a Centerstand and modify the center crossbrace to allow room for the stand to be able to swing up and not hit the collector! JAT!

Update

Well,, after reading and studying the help section in here I got it running. Ran pretty rough at idle but the motor sounds pretty good so far. I think I still got some crud in the carbs so I'll probably tear em down again. I found out the original motor took a crap on the guy and the motor in this one is from a Midnight. So my plans of taking it stock are kinda out the window. Still a awesome bike though. Oh yeah,,, I guess I'm getting pretty good at polishing metal
