Sounds like fun. Wish I could make it but I've mapped out two routes. One is five hours on superslab with tolls and the other is about eight hours.

Have to wait and see about the weather. If it is cold and raining I won't be there. Unless We come down the night before. If we do I want entertainment something besides rabbit breeding and goat meat that is.

          Only 4 days left!

Ok folks...I count 5 yes´s and I´m bringing at least two other bikes with me, so its up to 8 total, I´m hoping for others to show up on the spur of the moment. Weather looks promising, cloudy to partly sunny and mid 60´s with rain showers leading up to the wknd but not interfering with wknd plans.

I would say the best place to meet is in front of the front gate ...main entrance, so everyone can find it. If there´s people parked in that lot, just head toward the rear of the main parking lot until you find a place large enough to get 10 bikes into.

Thanks for posting the link for the Fair info, I´m sure others will find it very useful. You locals, we´re counting on you to lead the way once we get on the road. Show us your favorite roads, scenic views, etc. Unfortunately, my SWMBO won´t be going. Said she doesn´t want to spend that long on the bike. I´m certain I´m going to have to leave her.

From what I gather, my friends here that are going with me don´t intend to spend the night. I will decide once we´re there and riding...depending on the weather, my level of energy, etc...I´d love to spend an evening listening to stories and sharing my own, but would also like to be with SWMBO for at least SOME of the wknd. SOOO...that´s up in the air.

Olbiker, if you are indeed coming and want to arrive a day early, I´d be happy to put you up for Friday night, or even Saturday if you decide to head back early. Up to you, my home is yours. That goes for anyone else who might need overnight accommodation to make the meet, and has to go near my place to get there. I´m not going to publish my cell num, so if you need it, PM me and I´ll send it to you.

          Any other questions?

PS. I met hobbyman Andrew and his Father Phillip at Talimena trail rally in Oklahoma, and

Stayed with them at XSive meeting of the minds in Hurst Texas. They are both great guys. They wrench & ride and camp & wrench.

hobbyman is good with carburators, (though I am a little wary of the high octaine custom mix I have seen.) He has that CAN DO attitude, invite him, loan him a bike that needs some work & see. My bet is he will be grinning and motoring in a few minutes. A happy camper.

                Details

I propose 10:00 as the meet time Saturday. That way the frost will be off the pumpkins for those driving in from a distance.

What direction, other than from the west, are people coming from so we might plan trips in that general direction to share the load for the locals, like me?

Is there still interest in the Utica/Ilion area as that's about 70 miles from the Fairgrounds meet spot even if we take the NY Thruway to Utica and then 5S to Ilion. Otherwise I can see what route might be nice closer to Syracuse and the Finger Lakes areas. How many miles of riding are people thinking, given the ride some have to Syracuse first?

What % twisties vs. nice winding country roads?

Should we plan a ride to a place for lunch?

I have bus. travel this week so my planning time is limited, but I plan to meet and ride for a few hours...

                  So, Who's Coming??

OK Gang. Pretty dead communications for an event that is about 36 hrs away.
Need to know if there is interest or not. Hammer head said a count of 8 but I'm not sure who they are. Speak up everyone or I'll likely be doing SWMBO activities instead.

Right now it appears the area will still have some AM storms on Saturday, so a later start (say noon) or postponement may be in order. Still many nice weekends left, but leaf season is upon us for the twisties.

So chime in...how much time did you plan to spend riding in the area? Staying in Syr area or coming from elsewhere?

                  Inquiring riders want to know!

I broke my clutch cable and won't have a replacement in time. Too bad it would have been fun. I really appreciate the offer of a place to stay as well. We always have a place here just outside Kingston ON if needed.

dunno about others, but my friends and I are in it for the whole day, given enough time to ride home Sat night. 10 o clock was the actual proposed meet time. Im leaving my house at 7am to allow a stop for breakfast in Waterloo. Petro has some GOOD food.

If nothing else, we will take what we get for participants and decide once we are all in it and accounted for, where to go and what to do. Seat of the pants activities....

Works for me! I'll be in the vicinity of the main marquee sign, nearest parking lot where I won''t get chased out by Security.

Since you're coming from the west, I ws 5thinking about swinging by Canadaigua to visit Helmet World (on Rt 21) as I want to get a new modular style full face. We could swing back that on back roads (Rt 20/Rt 5) and vcinity later in the day if that's on your way back, .but may be too early in the day as I have mid-afternoon plans that I really can't put off That may be a ride for another day...in your direction.

I guess we'll figure it out as we go along! Hope the weather cooperates, See you (and hopefully others) tomorrow!

PM me for my cell phone#.

Well, those who didn't make it missed a beautiful riding day. Sun came out and warmed up nicely. Stayed generally south and west of Syracuse on the back roads and about the Skaneateles/Owasco lakes. Was a nice time.

Hopefully next time we can get a few more to come out for the ride, no matter what you ride on.

Hope everyone made it home OK.

Scott - it take a few more steps to post a photo from the service you're using. When you're viewing the photo, click in the photo to bring up the info page that talks about 'inlining photos'. Click on the size you want - i.e. the two above are 500 pizels. Copy the text from the middle section 'direct link to an image. Click on the IMG button back here in the forum. Paste the copied text into the IMG dialog when it opens. That should do it.

                                Some pics from the ride

Although only four bikes made the run, it was still a great time riding around the finger lakes, lunching at Doug's World-renowned Fish Fry, and talking shop about what we've done, future plans for the bikes, etc. Scott and Steve were great hosts, and we had a GORGEOUS day for the ride.
