  • XS1100 special police bike?

Visited a boneyard today and saw a rather interesting xs1100. It was painted up like a police bike (white and black) without the flashing lights. I have never seen a fairing like it so I took a few pics and will try and post them. I can't decide whether I love the fairing or hate it but I am thinking about painting it and putting it on my XJ. It would definately be unique. Interested in knowing what you all think of it. Sorry for the picture quality, only had my camera phone with me.

Looks interesting! I wanna say thats a Corvair headlight bezel, but I'm sure it could be from a bunch of different 60's cars.... if at all. It sure doesn't bare much resemblance to a Vetter setup. Be interesting to know where it came from, if you ever find out.

Definitely an unusual fairing...I'd love to know where it came from/was used for. Looks a lot like old police special models. Is the interior of it any different than normal? Extra storage? Holes where lots of switches used to be?

I think it has a row of switches under the gauges. It is a little wider than a vetter with 2 large locking compartments. I am still debating on whether I want this one or a vetter. They also have a fairing on an xs that is yamaha brand and has a chrome ''eleven'' on the front.

          Lights

You might want to check out the alternator on that bike for more output or did they stick a second battery in there somewhere to run all of those lights. If you get the fairing you might want to get the saddlebags and trunk to go with the fairing so you would have a matched set. Don't forget the mounting brackets! I would like that faring myself.

            That sounds kinda interesting.
Might check if it has a part number on it.

More power!!! LOL..bigger alternator would be cool, secondary charging system would be better. I need an idea for that.

That bike actually had a complete hard bag set and trunk. On the back of the trunk I think it said "xs eleven" in chrome cursive. The set looked complete but would definately need to be repainted and the chrome redone. It was a pretty sweet setup. If you want I will take some pics of it when I go back out there. This set was still on the bike. They only had 2 or 3 xs11's out there but if anyone is looking for a vetter fairing, they had around 30 in various states of disrepair. For one that was in excellent shape with the stereo and speaker kit installed he quoted me $150 (is that a good price?) but I am pretty sure he will come down with a little dickering.

WOW .. .I never knew that the XS1100 was used in police applications. Where was that? We once had KZs here in Ottawa as police bikes but they stopped using them when too many cops that were used to Harley's were crashed the faster Jap bikes.

If it had a title and they wanted $100 for it, I might restore it to police standards. I think it would be cool to have some flashing lights.

                        Queensland Police

The Police bike pictured above served in the Queensland Police Force. They were the only State in Australia to use XS11's.

I do not think the bike in the pictures is a police bike, looks to me it has a Harley style fairing. A chrome fender is also a nono on police bikes. Check the VIN number: a real police bike should have 4H9 (1980) or 5H4 (1982) as first 3 positions of the frame number.
