Last time I posted here I had a leaking gearbox which turned out was the output shaft seal; well additives didnt stop the seal leak so I spent about 30 min removing the old gearbox from my 78s motor and another 2.5 hours swapping them over.....after removing the leaky gearbox I soon found the problem. The previous owner had welded on the nut to the shaft for some reason (stripped) and as a result burnt the seal.....anyway all is good now and the gearbox is solid and doent leak at all. One more problem solved

      Where do people like that...

I guess some folks do dumb things ..........like for instance the poor bloke who tryed to mow his hedge with a his lawn mower, well he did'nt quite do it, picked up the mower and right, he lost all his fingers.......

If anyone trys removing there gear box remeber this, the flange on your gearbox and the flange on your drive coupling have to be pryed apart once you remove the 4 bolts, there is a ridge on the gearbox flange that sets in about 1/8th of an inch and unless you pry it free you wont get that gearbox out....took me a few minutes to see what was going on, thought I missed a bolt, there are 6 to remove.....plus the 4 on the drive line.
