  • book values going UP

Just had to look again and yep, just as I thought, the NADA values are up again. They keep getting better but, I only want one of every model myself.... well maybe 3 or 4 SHs !!!

    :-)

oh yeah and an XJ or 2 just to make TrBig jealous.

and now..... a quote........ this isn't a fake so Brent in GA I am apologizing in advance for posting this:

you have to read the last one most importantly........

    Value Explanations

Prices shown are retail consumer values and to be considered as selling prices. Trade-in and loan values are confidential for our dealers and industry base subscribers. Trade-in values are to be determined by local dealers and are generally lower than values shown.

Excellent — A close to perfect original or a very well restored motorcycle. A motorcycle that is stunning to look at and any flaws are minor and not readily apparent. Everything works as new. All equipment is original, new old stock (NOS) factory replacements, or minimal use of excellent quality reproductions. An excellent condition bike may seem to most individuals as a perfect motorcycle but to the trained expert will have minor flaws or inaccuracies.

Very Good — An extremely presentable original motorcycle showing minimal wear, or a well restored motorcycle. Starts, runs, and rides well. Needs no mechanical or cosmetic work. All areas have been detailed. Beautiful to look at but below excellent condition because of limited used or restoration flaws.

Good — Presentable sheet metal, engine, and frame with signs of wear. Not totally detailed but very clean. Frame should be straight and unaltered. Shiny, attractive paint but may have evidence of minor fading or imperfections. Starts, runs, and rides good. May need some minor mechanical or cosmetic work but is fully usable and enjoyable as is.

Fair — Starts, runs, and rides OK but needs some work. Motorcycle shows signs of use but not abuse. Any previous restoration or mechanical work is older and not holding up well. Cosmetics, body, and mechanics all need work to some degree. This is a complete motorcycle with most sheet metal and body parts being correct but only in fair condition.

Poor — Used for Harley-Davidson and Indian motorcycles only. A poor condition motorcycle has been used and abused and needs major mechanical and/or sheet metal work. It may or may not run. Alterations are evident to the frame or sheet metal. Motorcycle is missing or has incorrect parts, i.e. fenders, tank, seat, mechanics, installed. To some individuals this is a "project or parts bike" at best. A poor condition motorcycle is one best left to the professional for restoration.

    "Out of date"

    Just grabbed my N.A.D.A. for a look-see...
It doesn't give a description like that.
Then again, it's the 2006 edition.
I suppose that when they published this year's updated edition, they included the harley davidson information as they wanted to be more accurate.

          $1,500 - $2,000 for an excellent '79 example?

Geesh! I hope my wife don't read this!

1954 - 1960 DUE TO THE RARITY OF THESE YEARS AND MODELS OF YAMAHA, PRICING DATA IS STILL BEING COLLECTED

            Where did you find prices?
            Above what I founds

            $1,500 - $2,000 for an excellent '79 example?
Don't think I'd let my SF go for that....

              HOLY SNORT!

Packmule is worth between $1275 and $1800!

I bought it for $1500 back in 2000.

Put in about $750 over the years, to make it better that when it was new. And I got to ride it for 7 years, so my return is not that bad.

Interesting thing, Hippie Dave's 78E, in excellent condition, which it is, is worth $2050. My 80SG, in excellent condition, which is is just shy of, is worth $1800. I wonder why an older Standard is worth more than a new Special?

Hippi Daves Bike does come with an added extra for the current owner. But then I don't think he'll be trying to sell it any time soon.
Somehow I don't think its the money with most of us.

'Cause of less wear and tear from so many gas stops?

Standards get crashed more so there is less of them?

They cranked out more Specials over the model year?

BTW, while everyman has his price, anyone would be hard pressed to get my XS.

                      LOL ROFL LMAO

It seems to me that the Standard riders would worship the Specials 'cause our gas stops let you get off that saddle, rest your butt and burn one!

I can't catcha break with you guys...

I have an Antique and Classics bike magazine that list all bike 25 years and older.

                            I shows an XS1100F :

Excellent - $5000 and ranging for there down to about $1000 depending on condition.

Excellent in this book is either NOS or restored like Hippie Dave's 78E..

Very good - $3500 - was an all original Eleven with very low miles. Very minor flaws are acceptable but the bike would be near perfect and most people couldn't discern it from an "Excellent" example.

Good - $2000 - 2500 - Good would be a bike that appeared near perfect from 20 feet. But as you approach the bike you see some imperfections. Small scratches in the paint, slightly worn seat, minor pitting in the chrome and corrosion but nothing too serious.

The grades range down to parts bikes and I think...If I recall accurately even a parts bike would fetch $500.

However in the scheme of things...I have been watching Elevens on Ebay for several years and I can't recall even the finest examples going for much more than $3000. The Eleven simply has not attained the status of the venerable Z1 900 ...yet. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if in the near future the value of these bikes comes up significantly.

In any case I doubt I would take top dollar ($5000) for any of mine because I love 'em. There is nothing like an Eleven.

Here's the guide I bought a couple days ago:

PS: At the very top of teh 78 listings...the last 77 listing check out the value of a TZ750!!! I bet Kenny Roberts wished he had a dozen of 'em.
