  • Many thank yous to all

I just wanted to say that you to all the XSive members of this forum and also to the fellow members of the Yahoo sight.
I injured my back and have been out of commission as well as not able to work. Getting really bord. Wanting to ride but can't. I actually considered selling MIYAMI and movin on to somthin else, With 3 or 4 tires. I havn't been on the forum for awhile and have lost many day's to the drug induced pain killers. I know I'll recover, ( hopefully soon ) and can get back to riding.
It is YOU guys and gals, That have made me decide to Keep MIYAMI. Many thanks again. Now to take some more pain killers.
Keep the dirty side down and ride safe this year. Mabee I'll be able to make up for lost rideing next year.

    Welcome back!

maybe I should say... happy returns?

Glad to know that you came to your senses... John had considered selling Twilite after he injured his back... but found that working on the bike was great therapy... now it is becoming easier for him to take those long rides again without quite so much pain...
I think it would have been a thing of great regret to sell the bike...

Best of luck for a full recovery!

      "What, are you crazy?

Czekus... You're only 62 posts away from attaining GURU status. You can't quit now! Think of the shame.
I'm glad you came to your senses in time.
Bored? Take some more pain meds, lie on the couch and watch Pink Floyd videos.

        Hey Steve,

Sorry to hear about your troubles, and your period of weakness, not your back, but of thinking of selling your bike!

I had back surgery when I turned 40 y/o, was out of work for 6 weeks, and then light work....no lifting or helping patients in and out of wheelchairs, etc. for a whole year! I didn't feel strong enough to do that until near the end of the first year. But after that, started exercising, etc., can now run several miles, lift weights, etc.! The next year was when I decided to resurrect Godzilla. I can ride LDR's IF I want, but usually trailer it to the rallies now!

Hang in there, you'll be riding before you know it!

          Mike,
You must be on STRONG drugs if you even considered selling the XS!!! I don't think I could handle those drugs any more, just getting to old myself.
If I can get up that way again, I'll try to stop in. I know it won't be until next year at the earliest, but then we can ride together at least for a while!

I almost did the same thing when I had a hip replaced. Doc's said the dirt and street bikes had to go. They even wanted to get rid of my beloved '75 Power Wagon that I bought new 'cause the "seating position" was not good for the fake hip. I conceded by selling off the dirt rigs (which I regret). I kept the XS and the truck. I am sure a get off on the XS would play hell with the fake hip, but any get off is going to play hell with ya. The seating in the truck does play hell after about 2 hours of constant driving but I rarely hafta drive it for 2 hours straight. Turns out the fake hip isn't that big of a hinderance after all. I am very happy I kept the truck and the XS.
If they ever open the lakes up again, I am gonna try water skiing again, only this time on two skis.

It's funny you should mention waterskiing with your hip...A couple of weeks ago when WK and I were at Lake Sam Rayburn, she wanted to try skiing for the first time. She got up on the fourth attempt. Watching her just made me want to try it. I haven't dared try anything like that since my accident, but I grew some cajones and tied it. I haven't been on waterskis since the early 70's, so I wasn't sure I could get up, or withstand the pull of the boat on my back. I got right up and after getting settled in, I moved outside the wake, gained some speed and thought I was ready to cut back across, and jump the wake. WRONG! Did a total face plant. "Didn't hurt" I thought to my self and grabbed the rope when it came by. Popped right up again, and attempted to jump the wake again. Made it this time. Did it a few more times, and then suddenly realized that my thighs were burning and my arms felt like lead. I motioned to the boat that I was done, and let go of the rope. I was sore for days, but my back was just fine, so I'll bet you'll have no trouble on the skis, just getting over the sore muscles will be bad enough.
