  • The Transformation is Complete!

I have finally gotten Twilite Special to the point where I think the paint scheme is complete. Note the blacked out front end, rear end, headlight bucket, fork ears, turn signals, muffler/rear footpeg support, and case guards. Also note the polished brake calipers.

    What'cha think?

            Twilight Special....after midnight!

            Hey John,

Well, what do you know, BLACK IS BEAUTIFUL!

Nice touch on the calipers, easier than trying to keep it painted, I'll have to try that!

            Thanks for the XS11.com "plug"!

              That looks better John.

Did you try just doing the outsides of those back brackets first... or just say the heck with it and go all black. I think you made the right choice! I even like the "Swirly Girly" rims better than the straight spokes.. lol.

I am wondering though... where you got all that sunshine for those pics?? Nice of you to wait until we all rode home in the rain to bring it out! Sheesh! lol..

              Seriously.. it looks great.

                Thanks Guys

Tod, the sunshine was imported, and it brought a TON of humidity with it. It has been terrible with 90 degree temps, and about 80% humidity. I just took the brackets off the MNS and sanded, painted and baked them. I didn't try anything fancy with them. All of the new black parts, and calipers are from the MNS parts bike.
TC, I had to bleed the calipers after installing them, and it sure was nice not having to worry about getting brake fluid on the calipers. Just washed them off with some soapy water, rinsed, and reapplied some more wax.

Very nice, John. Thought for a second there that you had gone with a round bar-end mirror on the left side....

                      Nice Job, John!

I polished my calipers years ago. Polished looks so much better than painted.

Did you do anything special with the paint over the chrome on the front/rear fenders?

                        Thanks again guys

Mike, the fenders are from an MNS, so I didn't do anything to them, just bolted them on.
E.Liberty, the flooding was up alomg the Red River, and we are about 80 miles south of there.

                          John, looks very cool.

Is that a standard or special seat pan? and are those the stock mns handlebars?

Was almost expecting to see a black Tkat fork brace and some ss brake lines as well.

That is a great looking bike. Looks shiny and new.
It also looks exactly like the one in the shop I've been
trying to get my hands on. I doubt mine will ever be that
clean looking. First of all the bike would have to be sitting still
and I estimate once I have it running it will take 6-9 months for that to happen.
