    Hey Looser182,

I was going to MOVE this thread into the proper FORUM....bikes for sale, but then decided to reply first!

You shouldn't have to split the cases to just fix the 1st or 2nd gear malady!! Only a severely damaged Tranny would require that level of work. So...if it's only the popping out gear problem, then you can go to the Member's Forum, look up Oklahoma, and find some Xsives in your area that would be willing to lend you a hand in getting it fixed!!

However, if you're set on just selling, then reply with same, and then I'll move it as originally planned into the FOR SALE forum!

First of all... go get it away from the mechanic! lol. All you'll need to fix the tranny is a Dremmel type tool and some gaskets that you can make. If everything is there, it isn't that tough to fix yourself with just a few tools. With a little help, an hour to an hour and a half will get the motor out onto a workbench. This isn't necessary but it is a lot easier to do this way. (In my opinion)

You can fix it pretty cheap... but it will take a little time and effort. If you're set on selling it.. good luck. It's a pretty good time of year to be doing it.

        Hey Tod,

HERE's his original thread asking for assistance for his "mechanic". After re-reading this, he says the mechanic needs to replace the SHAFT that the shift forks slide on?

The mechanic told him that he couldn't get that shaft out without splitting the cases? Before, he told me that the OTHER GEAR shaft...the Primary Gear shaft was what he was trying to remove, and that's why I informed him that for THAT shaft, yes the cases would need to be split.

BUT....for the shift fork shaft.....it slides out easily during the Dremmel fix procedure without splitting the cases! You just have to remove the clutch basket so that it will slide out thru that side! A person actually HAS to remove it at least partially to be able to get the countershaft and gears out during the Dremmel Fix!

SO....now I'm not sure what the mechanic has told him or what shaft he's talking about??

Tod, I just looked up Mapquest, and you live about 60 miles away from him! I know you've seen the Dremmel fix being done on your bike at John's, or was it the clutches?? Anyways, wonder if you might be able to get with him to give him a second opinion if nothing else???
