Original Parts

I was just looking my bike over, and I noticed how many of the parts that were on the bike when I bought it have been swapped out or replaced. I think the list of what's left is shorter than what's been replaced.
Here's the list of what's still there:
Speedometer
Triple Clamp
Upper brake hose
Electrical harness
Engine
Tool box
Rear Master Cylinder & brake hose
Swing arm
Rear inner fender
Right side cover
That's about it. Everything else has been replaced or swapped out.
What's left of the original parts on YOUR bike?

On my E I have replaced:
fork springs
exhaust
air filter (K&N)
coils/wires
main jets
pilot jets (one was bad)
brake hoses (for SS hoses)
front master cylinder
but I still have all the original parts that I took off.
The bike came to me with the bucket touring seat (bought new with the bike by the original owner) but I also have a NOS OEM seat.
So I am able to put the bike back to OEM condition (tho I wouldn't put the old brake hoses back on)

On my LG I have replaced:
exhaust
air filter (K&N)
main jets
front master cylinder
handlebars
seat cover
speedometer (140 MPH now)
pistons (1196 big bore)
but I still have all the original parts except the speedometer.
So, I can put this one back to OEM condition too (cosmetically) too.

HMM...

Oh, yeah, the screw that holds the helmet lock to the frame!

Just kidding, but too much has been replaced to list. Frame, Motor, tank, wiring harness and triple trees are original for sure.

A lot of the parts replaced on mine were just upgraded or spare parts that I have made pretty/overhauled to install at a future time. Some (frame & tank) were because of the wreck, and others were just for cosmetic reasons. I have recently restored/rebuilt all of the parts associated with the front end of a Midnight Special, and transplanted them onto my bike. I stripped and polished the MNS calipers and swapped them out. All I need to restore from the MNS is the rear turn signals, and swap them onto my bike and the transformation will be complete. I will finally have the bike blacked out to my taste.

the only parts that have changed on mine is the air filter,oil and the exaust pipes but they are still oem pipes...has still got the original plugs in i think.....oh and the tyres of course

mine is all oem parts except for the mirrors which are JC whipme and saddlebags which are vetter,
I'm still running the original fuse box
I have changed the seat and tank, with originals that were in much better shape
I have oem exhaust, but it is my 3rd set, and they are not in good shape,
and the brakes and carbs have been rebuilt.
almost everything has been repainted

It's all 100% 1979 the way Yamaha shipped it.
It's just not running. I gotta get started on this thing.

Daily ride and crash...(80G)
have R&R rear fender once (needs another tail light lens tho)
On third set turns both front/back
Second set handle bars and right control and grip

Setting on a shelf have parts to put the G back in near perdey condition, altho running low on turn signals

Hot rod XS........has original frame, maybe original cylinders, final drive and rims, fenders.
think EVERYthing else has been changed

MNS (LG) have about 75 percent original, rest been getting here and there.

2 of the 79' standards I had the engines running at one time, but too many issues to get em back on the road so some parts have made a few other XSers happy and got em going. Still have yet to evaluate the 81 special and the other XSes were just parts from the get go.

Everything on my 1979 standard is original but not original to this bike ... HMMM ... maybe that's why it won't start LOL LOL

On a '78 xs750 triple I bought in 1880 that I traded in for my first XJ1100 in ‘82 I had replaced EVERYTHING but the rear fender/taillight, seat, tach, rear wheel and front master cylinder. In the almost two years I had it, everything else was replaced. Starting with the engine when I bought it, to the frame about 2 months before it was traded in.
