  • They're back...and I'm gone!

    Well, they're back...and I'm gone...

Yep, it’s some sort of disease or something. Seems to attack me every summer.

    Today:

    Last Summer:

I think I’ll ride to New Mexico in search of a cure. I’m headed to Tucumcari, New Mexico for a barbeque. I'm pretty sure barbeque can cure anything.

500 miles is reasonable for barbeque, right? Well, 500 miles each way, that is.

I’ll see you on the road!

    Spotted fever, looks like.

Which goes hand in glove with BarBQue fever, it seems.

            A New Mexico flower...

These things were at least 8" in diameter.

A tassle of Valks...that's mine on the end.

The Blue Swallow on old Route 66 in Tucumcari was our host hotel for the bbq and is a very nice place. The folks that run it are very friendly and helpful and run clean and comfortable operation. They put in the extra effort!

Stay out of the chains. Get off the interstate. Patronize the Mom and Pop places...or they will die and leave us with nothing but generic $100 a night rooms in chain hotels right on the interstate, along with the generic mediocre chain resturaunts to go with them. Ugh. Gemerica.

We need more characters in this life....

              more later...
