    Not bad

Good looking bike. Looks like he has an 81 cover on one side and a repainted 80 cover on the other side. Can't really tell by the pictures, might just be bad ones, but the paint job on the tank doesn't look real good. Missing the small 1100 emblems on the air box, but the gold looks very good. Depending on how much his reserve is set at this bike doesn't look bad and isn't far from full restoration to original condition.

Interesting observation Cajun. What is the physical difference between an 80 and 81 side cover as I did not realize there was a difference?

        Sidecovers

I was speaking about the oil pump and generator covers on the crankcase not the actual sidecovers. As far as I know there is no difference between the two years as far as the sidecovers are concerned. However, the covers I was speaking about actually have a circular groove with Nebula paint on the 81 LH model and a decal on the 80 LG models like mine. They also had gold Nebula outlines on the foot pedal mounts on the 81 LH and non on the 80 model. Suttle little differences. Of course there were other differences as in the curved wheels on the 81 versus straight spoke on the 80s. The brake system was changed between the two years to help prevent uneven braking or braking mistakes by the rider in 81. The carbs were changed on the 81 models.

Looking at the ebay listing again it looks like the headers have been painted because they are not black chrome as they were originally. I still say if the price is not too steep it would be a good acquisition and is very close to original. I would ask if he has the original crankcase cover to make it a true 80 as the decals are still available.
