Don't expect prompt or good service with PayPal's "buyer protection". It took 3 1/2 months for a refund for an item I purchased. I only use PayPal for new items with my credit card, and I removed the access they had from my checking account. I estimate that I spent in excess of 40 hours trying to get $150 back. www.paypalsucks.com

Isn't this what the feedback section is for? If a seller is screwing people over, they won't have good feedback for long.

I on the other hand just hit 900 positive on my eBay feedback score...

I dunno, maybe I'm just lucky or something. I've had 132 total transactions on ebay and not one of them went south to the point were I needed any kind of mediation. I've bought a pretty wide array of stuff, too.

Almost always got what was claimed, and got my money back the two times it wasn't. Even then it was as simple as emailing the sellers and teling them. All of the things I've sold went smoothly. I sold over $5000 worth of CCTV equipment on there a few years back on a friends account (was a few hundred items). every one of those went without a hitch. Smiled all the way to the bank.

I must lead a charmed life.

          ebay blues

My biggest concern with ebay is the way it's changed from people wanting to unload stuff they don't want to people making a living from it. I know that a few months ago the big thing here and I'm sure elsewhere was the MAKE A LIVING ON EBAY seminars. When I see complete XS's stripped to every little piece I feel a little sadness that one more is gone forever.Sure I know that some of those parts get another back running but most of us know there are only certain things these bikes typically need and those parts pull pemium prices and the rest of the organ doner goes to the scrap yard. Another XS gone forever. They really are worth more dead than alive.I guess I'm just crying out loud cause you can't put the toothpaste back in the tube,, Just hate to see them disappear. Money wins over Love it seems

            Ebay BS....
Had cancelled an order when it hadn't been shipped more than a week after the maximum time the seller said would ship. Then after a few emails had been waiting another two weeks + for a refund. Today the SOB part came in the mail and ship date shows it was just sent out on the 29th. On top of that it's the wrong part

So I imagine it's going to be a while to get my $70.00 back.
I've screwed up an order or two, but have always tried to make it right. When people do things like this...it's just bad bisness

The problem with the feedback thing is that none of the sellers will leave you one usually until you have. I have just run across a guy that sent the wrong part, took forever to ship it anyway and sent no communication whatsoever.. BUT.... anyone that left him a negative, he left THEM one also and wrote "Bad communication!!" It was HIM that wasn't communicating. I wen through ebay's process, but it's a joke. The guy is still selling and I'm still screwed. I can't say anything bad in fear of my 100% rating.

I've seen a few positive feedbacks lately in Ebay where the actual text posted was quite damning. Interesting concept - like talking out of both side of your mouth at one time.

if the seller didn't give you a feedback for fast pay , they are actualy holding you hostage for a good feedback first.
lest you get a retaliatory neg after you neg them.

neging them accomplishes less than if you were to maintain 100%

i have not neg for this reason alone, to some well deserved sellers, that held out,

a good indicator is a lack of pre ending communication and vague discriptions

On the news tonight there was a guy who was murdered picking up a car from a criminal on ebay. This expose was about how criminals wait for ebayers to meet up with them at some predisposed location and rob them.

Well, its not so much your small items but the news said that it was not uncommon for large items like cars and things to be dangerous.

i have sold cars on ebay, they pickup with transport, why go thru an auction, most funds are certified, if the car had any value, i guess if someone wants to use their brain for evil they will figure out a way to rob someone, but you know thats a dead end karma situation.

and besides why leave a paper trail, if ya gonna steal make it over a mil....

A positive (if you can call it that) to parting XS11's out on Ebay is it makes the bike you now own more rare, thus worth more.
