  • Bike Tow Dolley

Has anyone seen the reciever hitch bike tower that raises the front wheel off the ground? I've seen a couple different ones offered and they run about 600 bucks. I wondered if anyone has been considering a poor mans homemade equivalent. I've been pondering this eversince my last stranding. Runnimg fine now but I won't ever forget that sick feeling.

I think the consensus in the previous thread was that these would be a bad idea for the XS because the oil would run to the back and not bathe the pinion gear. To me it doesn't look stable and you'd end up doing needless wear to the rear tire.

$270 gets you a 1200 lb capacity trailer from Harbor freight. Use it for hauling lots of stuff.
Or spend $ for something that only hauls a bike, well, half a bike

              I agree Pat

I have a trailer myself, but as I think we said last time, sometimes its easier to have one of these in the trunk of your car than tow a trailer to go and pick up a bike.

Sorry to be repeating the same old stuff

reciever hitch bike tower that raises the front wheel
If you have your own welder, trailer jack can be had $40/60.00
                  Whole thing made for $100/120.00
Very good set of ratchet type straps can set you back $70.00 all tho there are some a lot cheeper.

I saw a unit that plugs into the receiver hitch where the bike rolls up on from the sideand straps down transversely with respect to the towing automobile. looked kind of cool as one doesn't need trailer skills to use it. I think it was joehauler.com or something like that. it does have 600lb capacity available so it should be able to carry an XS. Just a thought. have a nice day and ride safe
