Hello my name is Ray and I enjoy…… er well never mind.

As of late I have only had time for the honey-dew list and trying to get my bike on the road. But other hobbies that I enjoy are.

        1. SCUBA, lots of fun swimming with the fishes.
        2. Snow skiing, when there is snow
        3. Hiking, Some great places to hike here in Pennsylvania
        4. Wine making, I have a good time trying out different fruit wines
        5. Computer gaming, HALO was fun but nothing will ever replace Mech-warrior.
        6. Restoring a 77 xs750. Currently on hold until the xs1100 is working

Hmmm, think I missed something……oh well.
        Never enough time for everything.
I even got to fly a plane once.

Four years ago I was diagnosed with NHL. I was in remission for a while but it has come back.

Life is short so I want to do as much as I can.

well, as my handle describes, I am learning many hobbies. I was originally into model Trains. Ho scale to be exact. I had a nice setup with 2 engines and some nice cars. I was just about to start building replica cars when I decided that it wasn't worth all of the money. That was when I was pretty young too. From then on it was lots of radio controlled stuff. I have more model airplanes that I can count. Every time someone crashed one out of the field, they would give it too me. After putting them all back together and re bracing everything, I would end up with a really nice looking plane. While I was doing that, I spent countless long hours working on the family boat. I can't tell you how many nights were spent working in a cramped engine compartment squeezed between wet fiberglass and a very very cold 454. It sure does sound nice though. From then it was motorcycles. Need I explain the rest? I figure that the only two productive hobbies I have are the boat and motorcycles. They can actually get you from point a to b. The only other things that I dabble in are cars. I have spent lots of time working on the family cars and my good friend rebuilds plenty of them. He rebuilds them so that he can sell them for college money. He has a rebuilt a Chevelle, Dodge Coronet, and Dodge Charger(in the makings) I help him out a lot of the time, mainly troubleshooting engines and stuff once the cars are put together. To summ everything up and what it all boils down to is that my clothes are always coverd in grease and are very very dirty. I am restricted during droughts because it takes a lot of lawns to cut to pay for all this stuff.

Other than the XS, main hobby is restoring antique radios. My daily player in the garage is a 1956 Zenith AM/FM. Older than me and works better too!

Real radios glow in the dark, right unclespot?

I love vaccum tubies! I have a vintage osciliscope that works and several radios sitting around. In the navy my dad flew mostly vacuum tube planes including the A-6 intruder and many others. We have plenty of vacuum tube parts from planes lying around.

Randy, my recent XS play money came from a radio I restored, a 1945 Fada 1000, AKA "Bullet". Apparently people are a little crazy about this radio, because I got $1K for it on e-bay! Here's the link:

                    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=130097298157

So in exchange I got new K&N filters, Tony's regulator/rectifier, a TKAT fork brace, SW Motech handlebar risers, HEL stainless brake lines and SixtySix's Honda CB750F SuperSport. The Fada was pretty cool, but I think I'll get more enjoyment out of my new parts.

I forgot all about my guns. Poor things have sat all clean and unshot for so long now. Used to average at least 15k rounds a year total of various calibers. I need to rebuild my backstop before I can shoot like that again though. It was 2 rows of railroad ties and 4 or so inches of rubber. Was..

It costs a lot to shoot a lot. The majority of my bullet money was turned to bike money in the budget. Now it's going to other stuff.

Wayne, I have been to a couple of IDPA matches (as a spectator, sadly). Excellent shooters there. Would love to give it a try someday. Still haven't invested in a Kimber or other high quality .45 that it would take to be really competitive. I doubt mine would be up to the task. Ah, someday...

What I really need to do is find a way to eliminate this damn job thing and still be able to afford all the hobbies!

Don't get me wrong, I love shoting. but when you have a semi-auto rile, it gets a little expensive. I don't like firing steel cased rounds but they are soo much cheaper than the good stuff. 11 rounds is the max I can use with a stripper clip on my SKS but it sure it a lot of target practice. It works well for prairy dogs off in the distance. On my uncle's frinds land in SD, I could run through several hundred rounds a day. I am not good enough for shotguns, (I really suck) and I am not old enough to be legal for handguns. I like to think of my rifles as relics of the past that work very well, just like XS motorcycles. Is it wrong to like cleaning your gun more than firing it? I like to see how the intricate gas rods and the trigger group work.

                              JW,
I use a Ruger P89 (9mm) myself. I do it more for the practice than for the competition. People in IPSC (Int Practical Shooting Confederation) get into the super expensive race guns. But all you need is a decent 9 or up and a good holster to do IDPA.

I am not good at it yet for sure, but it has improved my ability to draw and fire under pressure.
