  • have you ever seen a XS11 THIS clean? I haven't!

...does any body remember that '78 XS11 that a guy got off eBay about a year ago with ONLY 711 miles on it? I went to see this bike - it was sooooooooooooooooooo clean you could've eaten off the engine, tank, or tires! I was stunned and amazed!
Well, the guy that bought it wants to sell it now; go figure...

he sent me some fotos and I did a fast webpage:
    http://www.unclespot.com/eds78xs11.html

...the price is not "cheap" but where the hell else you gonna find a bike THIS clean, super low mileage, and purrrrrfect?!??

WARNING: have a drool-bucket close by when you look at the pictures!

      Ron,
I set up the carbs for him last year. Working on the bike was like working on one just out of a crate. It's not cheap, but it IS in like new condition, except for the repaint. You can prevent the "pickup coil" problem by pulling the cover, and loosening the "clamp" on the wire bundle.
It would be a great bike for someone with the money.

Yes that is in deed one clean bike. I am however wondering where the body part pin stripping went?? The color also looks a little off. It looks a little on the orange side. Is this bike really "stock" with all original parts or a bike that was being restored by someone?

What about HippyDave's bike? Yo could eat off his, even after the 300 mile ride from Houston to here.

It is a beautiful bike, no doubt.

But to me the orange kills the value. What a horrid color.

Why would someone paint a bike with only 700 (or less) miles on it?

                    Why!?!

                    WHY!!?!?!?!?

                    It confounds me so....

For some reason, it would seem fitting to put a big "01" on the side of it. Hmm, and maybe a rebel flag on the tank.

Since it's Japanese, you could call it the "General Ree"

Being as that 30 mile(!) MNS went for 6 grand, and was (as far as I could tell) even cleaner looking, that makes his asking price a little steep. I could see 4 to 5k though. It is awful purty.

I guess it's all about what someone's willing to spend.

I would destroy it's value by riding it too much. Just like that MNS.

Dan, I HAVE to go to that motorcycle museum one day. I keep seeing pictures of it and I can't imagine how amazing it is....

The repaint makes no sense to me at all. If he was smart he would have it repainted stock before he trys to sell it. I mean a first class job to.

Maybe the owner (30 years ago) just didn't like the Macho Maroon. Since there were no other choices he had it painted.
To have a bike painted in 1978 was what, $100?
