  • Motorcycle Insurance

I have my motorcycle insurance with Foremost. It was time to renew my policy for 3 motorcycles, so I received a bill for $200 for 2007.

I call my agent and told her, I now have only 2 motorcycles. I sold the Honda. She said my insurance would go down but it went up to $223.

She called Foremost, and they told her the more motorcycles you have the cheaper the rate.

So we added the 2 1973 Yamaha TX750's I have in the backyard that don't run and are covered by tarps. Now my insurance is $186 for 4 motorcycles.

    Go figure?

Just for grins, I went to Geico's website the other day and got a quote. It's just for liability, but it was only $75 a YEAR for coverage. I had just re-newed my insurance so it will be a few months until I switch, but that's more than half of what I pay now.

Not to trumpet Geico too hard, but the Battle Cruiser runs me $82 a year (Liability only).

Does anyone know of a company that insures your classic for amounts over what the book says it's worth? My son is into the Custom Car thing and had his 92 Neon lowrider insured for something like 10k. It cost him more than a regular premium would have, but he was sure happy to have it when some jackass rear ended him last summer and totaled the car.

Progressive, yearly cost is $83. Basic coverage w/ uninsured-underinsured coverage. Sometimes it pays to be old (er) and ride a old bike. Cost actually went down when I included the "touring package". I guess they figure when you have bags and a fairing, your not gonna ride as "aggressivley". Wrong.

A couple of years ago I switched from Progressive, who wanted around $100 for one bike, to Dairyland, who this year charged me only $135 for three bikes, even after two claims.

I use a local complany called Direct Insurance. Liability only, both bikes, $52/year. I was flabbrgasted when she told me the price.

"Where do I sign?" was all I could say.

                      ins

sadly Arkansas has some of the worst drivers in the nation so my ins on a single XS is $240 a year. I don't think the ins would be worth it if it wasn't required by law.
