  • Hey Tod!

Remember that gasket set that you left here? Well, I used them all...

As templates for new gaskets. I bought a roll of .08 mm gasket paper at O'Rielly's (less than $4) and made a bunch of new gaskets before you take yours back with you, or give them to Hobby Man. I do need to buy one more roll, so I can make a cylinder base gasket. My left over piece of gasket paper is about 2 inches too short for that one. I have also previuosly made 2 valve cover gaskets, 4 carb gaskets, and 2 cam chain tensioner gaskets. I have a set of hole punches, so getting the bolt holes just right isn't a problem...any more. All those gaskets for less than $10 and a couple of hours time. What a deal!

Great... now my gaskets are going to have Crayola crayon smeared all over the edges!

Glad you could use them. I enjoy making my own gaskets also. I bought the whole set because it wasn't much more that way than to just get the head gasket. Those are a little tough to make.. lol.

I make gaskets all the time. It is actually fun to do. I have a couple of punches and dies out of a machine that I use for holes.

But I did make a valve cover gasket once and after I finished I found the spare hanging up in my shop behind some other stuff. The factory cut gasket definately looked better than my effort so now the one I made is my spare....if I can find it.

Crayola? Sheesh! What kind of childish comment was that? I'll have you know that I used lipstick, bright red, $25 hooker red lipstick.

No, but she hates it when I stretch out the lingerie AND I' ll have you know that $25 would only cover 1/2 hour.
The smeared lipstick will also act as a release agent for the gaskets, so they won't stick to the engine, so they can be used again.
