Saw a 1967 Corvette convertible sell, on Barret Jackson, a few days ago, that had 7211 orignal miles on it...

Some people are just wierd I guess.

You see it all the time

with model collectors. Matchbox or the Star Wars concession or whoever brings out a new model. Serious collectors buy two. One to play with and the other to be stored away without even opening the box in the hope it will eventually become "collectable" and they, or perhaps their heirs, will get rich on it.
Mind you, to do that with Corvettes or even with Midnight Specials takes space, time and money beyond the reach of the average Joe.

My E had the 1979 registration sticker on the license plate and 7,200 miles on the odometer when I bought it in 2001. I paid $60 for the bike. It was in very sad shape as it had sat outside for 22 years.

About $400 (including buying and registering it) got it on the road.

I know of a guy in Selma, Alabama, who collects Shelby Cobras, Corvettes and WWII Russian fighter planes.

He has a standing order for any special model Corvette that GM decides to put out.

He only buys 1 of each corvette, though and drives each car home from the plant.
