WEll its that stupid texas weather again. I was trying to get home when it started hailing. First strike shattered my tach glass on the 79SF. Anyone have a good unit they are willing to sell? After I made it home, the hail grew to larger than golf ball sizes.

        Ahhhh hail!

These are some of the smaller ones that fell around our house... about golf ball size and a little larger....

We had a few more that were pretty dang big... We don't get enough snow to make snowballs that big...
If they weren't breaking things... they actually looked pretty cool with rings like those you find in trees...

Sorry to hear about your tach HobbyMan but VERY glad you are okay... Ummm.. you ARE okay.. yes? You didn't say anything about you in your post...

Yeah, helmets work really well. Just found out that one of our skylights over the kitchen is shattered.

            Andrew

I may have a tach for sale. I'll look for it a little later. We drove our cars over to the mall parking garage when we heard there was some hail coming. Kat's Mom stopped by just a couple of minutes before the hail hit, and her car got it pretty bad.b I havethe MNS sitting in front of the garage door, and I pulled the tank off just before it started. It would have got messed up pretty bad.

My patio cover got beat up pretty bad. It is smoke colored PVC corregated sheets and, I'll bet 5 of the 8 sheets are cracked/broken. Our peach tree had about half of the peaches knocked off of it.

The town car in our back yard that I was going to restore as an "XS hauler" is totaled. Dents everywhere but no broken glass. The body "was" good - maint but now it is going to need lots of body work.

I'm really glad you guys are alright. My wife and I went out to eat tonight and I saw pictures of the front going through Dallas on an HDTV. I've seen stuff like that before.

We have a camper. At the time, it was a travel trailer. We were heading up into Wisconsin one Friday and just passing by Madison. The clouds were very turbulent and had that funny "slate grey with a touch of green" in them. I was half wigged out because I'd seen clouds like that in my youth. I was looking every which direction like crazy. We had a CB on to see what the truckers were saying. Then....

...leaves started to fall out of the sky. Nice fresh new green leaves. There were NO trees by the side of the road and it wasn't windy. They were just falling straight down out of the sky. I did freak out at that. Only one thing I know of would cause that to happen. Just about that time, a trucker reported a twister crossing I90 just a mile in front of us. I never saw it (thank GOD for that!!!)

In my youth, I've seen clouds come by just as bright green as new spring grass (That'll get your attention!) Them suckers are just full of hail....

Then there was the day while running a tractor around in a field when I saw a tornado form. THAT was freaky

A big low cloud was trying to form a tornado right over my house when the hail started. It was dark, low. It was all centered around the bottom just trying to form. Thank goodness thats all it did.

It came through here ( far west side of Fort Worth) very fast. Lots of rain for about five min. and that was it ! No hail.

                              Claiming for damage

Back a while our small town in Manitoba got creamed by a golf-ball-size hailstorm.
There were enough hail-damaged cars that Autopac (the Government monopoly vehicle insurer) sent an adjuster out to settle all the claims. Our summer student had this $100 sedan that had gotten more dents than a golf ball. He came back waving a cheque and saying "They gave me $300 and I get to keep the car!"
