Stings

Was riding around this afternoon,
got wacked in the closed visor by a bug
i thought, the thing then hit me in the shoulder,
i then felt an almighty sting,
**** it hurt, it was a wasp, stung for ages.
it reminded me years ago riding with a mate
who had a wasp fly into his jacket and into his shirt
and stung him so many times he lost count,
it was so funny watching him freakin out,
tho he wasnt laughing.
any one else been stung or bitten whilst riding?

Oh yeah. And birds, giant dragonflys and swarms of lake moths....

I was riding with my visor up, and had one go right in the left side of my helmet.

I had to stop on the side of the road. My pillion saw the thing go right in, and helped get my helmet off. I was on the end of a group of riders, and they all turned around to check on me.

We had ice, and after about 30 minutes I was better.

I used to wear a denim jacket, and I collected stings around my neck. I took to wearing a bandana around my neck. My daily commute was through an isolated area in Florida. I've developed an allergy to bee stings, so if it happens now, I'm off to the hospital.

Watch out for dem birds!

A couple of years ago I was cruiseing about 75 on I-55 in Louisiana. Now my XS is naked...no windshield or fairing. I caught a big black bird in the chest and knocked the wind right out of me. I had to pull over and stop for a minute. Then some nice lady stopped because she thought I was having a heart attack.

One of my brothers managed to hit an unidentified large bird doing around 140mph one time... bike was fine (VFR)...bird was just matted feathers...literally...nothing else left... he almost lost it - went offroading for a few harrowing seconds and got back on the road right before a nasty drain pipe...

Working in a shop that is chopping a cb900ss, after it hit a bird while going stupid fast, bent the hell outta the forks..

many years ago, riding just one block from home on a sunny afternoon. I didn't have the jacket zipped up, and had a wasp join me for the ride. I felt the first sting AFTER I felt something hit me, and I was stopped from 30MPH, had the jacket off, and wasp out in about 5 seconds!
The worst was a hit from a dragon fly, and yest they DO have BIG stingers!
