  • Tank Emblams

This is probably an exersize in futility but does anyone have any tank emblams for an XJ. I think I remember there being a thread about some aluminum ones someone was having machined? I was going to rehab my old ones but upon close inspection I found that they were broken. The PO had just sort of jimmied them to stay in place. It's a bummer but whatever.

    Thanks.

i am not an authority on the XJ, the XS however has the same hole pattern as a yamaha golf cart. You can order those emblems online at any golf cart supply store. I have been very happy with mine and only paid 12 or so dollars for both including shipping. They are silver though. like shiny plastic chrome.

Hey, Trav! Did you fit those on a Standard tank or a Special? I have some but they're way too flat to fit a Special tank.

The flat, golf cart emblems can be heated in a pot of hot water, and they will conform to the contours of the tank if you install them when they are still warm.

I shopped around and got a couple sets for 5 or 6 bucks a set. I gave Brent from Georgia a set and that's what he did.. hot water and they molded right to shape. Like they said, they are silver, but they have got to look better than what you have???

I salvaged a cracked one. Take some epoxy and some Saran wrap. Fill in the back depression with epoxy and lay saran wrap over the top of the epoxy. Use that to flatten it out and fill in any gaps. Let that dry and make sure there is no epoxy sticking out to far that would push the emblem away from the tank. Mine has lasted so long and held so well that I haven't put on my new OEM one yet. It was broken into a million tiny pieces held together by the paint. No Kidding. Now I just need to find a way to refinish the outside.

I put mine on a standard. really like the look. Kinda modernizes it a little. I like the look if you are trying to do something a little custom, but I think that they look out of place on a good restoration back to original just my .02

slick off the area with body filler & paint over. If the anonymous tank really offends your aesthetic sense you can buy soft plastic aftermarket peel'n'stick three tuning fork badges for ~$10 a pair.
