    nope. That's a 650, unless they changed the alternator cover. No YICS markings

        So when did Yamaha switch the 650 from a 2 cylinder to a 4 cylinder?

          Just a guess, but probably in 1980 when they released the Maxim 650 (it's XJ, right?). XS650's and TX650's were all 2 cylinders IIRC.
