  • kickstart lever

Anyone ever find a kickstart lever that folds-up mounted permanently? Back in the "Old Days" bikes had electric and kickstart now of course we have to tuck it away and mount it when we need it.

    '80 XS850SG

I had a 1980 850SG that had a fold away kick starter. Wonder if that one will install over the kick start shaft?

      Oldkawman

I went on this Guys site"Oldkawman" mostly about old Kawis but he says a 850 or 750 XS has the same spline as the XS1100 but hes unsure about the swing clearance during the arc of the swing.

        Lucky you

        Hi Bruce,
at least you got one stashed on the bike.
My XS11SG don't even have a shaft to put a kickstart pedal on. All there is, is a cast-on legend that says "kickstart" and that's a black lie.
Sure my '84 XS650 has a kickstart, but that's only because they all had them, just like it has 3 valve covers with 3 M6 studs plus 1 cover with 4 M8 studs because the '72 model had a compression release mounted there and they couldn't be bothered to change the head design after they'd abandoned the release idea.

Yes, the 850 lever fits nicely on the 11. I don't use it much, but I like the retro look, and if I ever do need it, the 11 is not all that hard to kick over.

                    speaking of dolls

This I saw last year.....figure it out.....I could'nt.....I was just exiting a second hand store and in the parking lot was this station wagon with 3 people in it, not moving; I stared a bit then noticed they were'nt people at all, all three were manakins, fully dressed, all women 2 in the bag and one in the front seat passenger side.....seemed a bit odd, but whats odd these days?

I drive around like that all the time, but I dress up my manicans as elderly people because I drive a Caddy. Just taking the grandparents for a drive

Not really. That person was totally insane!!

                          Girlfriend

I ride solo girlfriend wont get on "Motorbikes" God I hate that term, no I say, there motorcycles!! Perhaps I should mount a manickin on the back of the bike....see it now, rearended by a cage and arms and feet allover the street and along comes Kurt with the grandparents in the back freakin out.

This is off the subject but someone will get a chuckle out of it. Im sure..........35 yrs ago I ran over 3 people all at once....got your attention did'nt I.......this is how it happened; winter time, freezing ran and black ice and it was the blackest of nights. I was coming down this slopping turn only to be blinded by an array of lights when I came on to the scene in front of me, at this point I was driving at around 5 to 8 MPH and sliding. there were cars on one side of the road with blaring headlights same on the other side with one halfway in the ditch and its lights blinding me, so I could see virtually nothing between all these lights including 2 intoxicated people in the road and one more exiting the car....all three ended up on the bonnet of that big 1964 Parisienne....the worst part was when my dear old mother sitting in the passenger seat freaked out when one of the 3 people I had run down apparently had a wig on and it flew onto my windshield! My dear old mother screamed, oh my Lord her head came off!!!Had to be there! RCMP showed up and took all the particulars and told me to be on my way. Oh, the 3 people were just bruised.
