  • Crying over spilled milk

I have an 06 Accord V6 6 speed. Found a funky odor after leaving it sit all weekend (we were in the wifes MDX all weekend) and after some searching found the infamous sippy cup of millk under the front passenger seat. Had been there at a minimum of 4 days with temps in the 70's and 80's. My new toy with its leather seats, and plush interior now smells like a "sack of ass".

Any tips on deodorizing so I can drive it again without profuse nausea?

BTW it is faaaast for a 4 door family car. LOVE it.

Direct sunlight is a good deodorizer if you can get it. Find sunlight, then about 100 MPH with the windows down, for several hours, will do the trick.

Probably most of it is on the carpet. Foam it up and brush scrub. Vacuum residue when dry. Repeat.

Box of baking soda spread over the carpet and then vacuum again after a few hours.

Fabreze the heck out of it.

    Clean. Hard. Repeat.

I personally like the open windows method...

Try a small open container of charcol. It like Baking soda will absorb the odor.

If the simple, cheap solutions don't work, try this stuff:

          http://odoban.com/OdoBanRetail/OdoBa...liminator.html

I've found it at Sam's Club. When I moved into my house, the PO had a dog. MAN OH ME was it ever in the carpets. This stuff worked. Took a couple of applications, but it does work. It has a smell of its own, but it will go away in a few days.

Try Natures Miracle, a product sold in pet stores. It has enzymes in it that break down spills like that. It works and it is odorless. Best for pet mistakes as well.

Could be worse. Could be like that Corvette on Mythbusters.

saw that episode of mythbusters, not pleasant. The accord forum talks about similar methods, but addng in vinegar. Like the skunk suggestion. That is similar to "want me to take your mind off of that pain in your leg boy?" ZX David, It was my son that did it, kinda like the guy so I did not kill him since he is only 2. Now if he were 3 he might have a problem. Also like the windows down version. Believe me this car will do 100 plus for a couple of hours. I might do that anyway even if I get rid of the smell.

Thanks all for the suggestions, I will let you know how it turns out over the weekend.

Park it in the sun on a breezy day with all doors wide open for the entire day. follow up with fabreeze on carpets and leather cleaner on the upholstery.

Ozone will kill the smell and all the microbiology at the same time.
The equipment is found from specialists (atleast here) who also do interior cleaning etc.

Park the cage and ride the bike. Problem solved.......
If that ever happens to your bike now, You can buy a pack of tree air fesheners and hang them on the handlebars and grab bar.
