    If the engine in question is in a P/U truck, then it is most likely a 292cid, but IIRC the 292 had huge lifter covers, and this engine appears to have the smaller covers so it may be a 250.

      Thanks John for restoring my doubt. It is in a truck, a custom deluxe 2x4 with auto trans. fleet side. if that means anything. Just when I start to think its a 250 too. Anybody know where I can type in an engine code to see what it is . I got the #'s of the block. they are 00N E1190 473483.

        I just found it . it is a 250 1barrel carb. Using a guys website and the VIN. WOoo Hoooo

            RTV, high temp. When using it do I let it dry a little than install cover, do I install cover immediately and fully tighten or install immediately and half tighten than fully tighten after drry?

              I just spread it and install part, no wait...

              Do tighten down evenly, and check torque specs and use em.
              Makes the engineers that designed the part feel like they are competent
