Cold, but sunny.

I need to do the steering head bearings on the Valkyrie. Badly.

100,000 miles (nearly)...yeah, it’s time…I can feel them in extreme handling. Most probably couldn’t, but I’m intimately familiar with this machine. She says it’s time.

Sort of a major operation…the entire front end has to come down…that’s tire/wheel, fender, brakes, forks, instruments, steering head.

It’s time.

I had the first wrench in my hand. I really did.

But it was time.

“Can we make one more babe?”

The wrench clattered back into the box.

“Thought so.”

“Road trip!”

yeah it took me a year to get to mine, the procrastination was thick in the air,every little thing talked me out of it,

it took me 8 hours, but now i have this complete feeling, with that and the swing arm bearings done, i feel like i got a new bike, not a 27 year old one.

Ahh yes, the age old problem... gotta get off it to work on it!

I did mine when, on the way home, I started looking like a complete newby on the bike. I was shaking and trying to stay upright at low speeds. It was scary.
A pain to do, but a great pay off in handling!
