  • Who's bike ????

This bike has been sitting in this parking lot for a couple of months. I've never seen anyone around it nor has it moved. Notice, the plate is from Wyoming and expired 9-05. Anyone missing an XJ or know who this belongs to??

The parking lot this is in is at the Elks Lodge parking lot Madison,SD.
I know there not the greatest pics but they're from a camera/phone.

"Uhmm... I believe it's one of mine."

    Here's the deal....
Get the vin number offa it.
(Ok, first go inside and ask the Elks...)
Then get the vin number offa it.
Have a friend(if you have any) write up a bill of sale to you. (maybe he won the bike in a poker game)
Take the bill of sale to the DMV joint.
They will look up the registered owner and give you the address.
Send the registered owner a certified letter including the DMV paperwork, and a note that you wish to buy the bike, etc.
If the letter gets to him and he doesn't respond, that means he still wants it or something.
If, after the post office tries to deliver it three times and either no one signs for the letter, or the owner had move, the letter gets returned to you by mail.
Don't open the returned letter, but take it sealed, and your bill of sale from your buddy back to the DMV and have the bike transferred into your name.
IThe bike is now registered to you, and if the owner doesn't report it stolen within three years, it's yours completely.
An abandoned bike... is an abandoned bike!
I got a Special and another "F" that way.
(One was registered to a guy that no longer lives here and the bike actually was owned by a car dealership that went out of business years ago, so it's mine.)
(yeah, and then I still have another one, that the registered owner owes $900 on, and the finance company won't sell it to me... and told me just to push it into the woods and abandon it myself!) sorry... too many parts I need offa it.
Lot's of ways to pick up abandoned bikes, or to locate the owners.
    Most of them legal.

Hmm... that reminds me... I still have a Ninja in the shed at work from last year as the guy didn't pay his bill. Guess that's mine now, too.

Y'all know that is in not an XJ11. First clue...rear drum brakes, second...no brake rotor on right front, nor is there a mounting point on the right fork tube. Another hint is the location of the alternator, and the styling of the final drive. Location of the license plate is an other give away.

The washers are on the GMC's. A joke I heard some years ago, is that a GMC is just a Chevrolet with lock washers.

I heard that GMC stands for generically made chevy.
