  • Midnight Special parts on Ebay

FYI to the group, a new batch of clean looking '81 MNS parts are on ebay - search seller name "rockcotton" and you will find them. Lots of good stuff there.
BTW, I don't know the seller, just a heads up for you-all.

Looks as great parts! However - I think it is bad that a bike that good is sold in pieces The good thing is that it will help some other xs11`s to keep on the road! Will maybe bid on some parts myself. I am still looking for a NOS left side muffler for my LG, so if anyone can help - let me know!

Looks like a few of them are being parted out right now. An 80 and a79 as well as the MNS. Sad thing is that they are worth more parted out than whole.

That exhaust looks great! I have won some of his auctions before, and he sell quality parts and ships fast.
The only thing I dont understand with that seller (and some others) is: why start an auction at $ 0.99 with a reserve price? Why cant they just start the auction at the lowest price they are willing to sell for?
              Have a nice sunday !

e-Bay suggests that a lower starting price will get more activity and increase interest. I really prefer to do the buy now if I am content with the price. I also when selling offer buy now at the price I feel the item is worth.

Like 79 said, Ebay recommends it. And it works, too. People become so intent on outbidding the others that it becomes more about the competition that it does about the part they want.

                  Auction fever!

It can still come back to bite the seller though, as it still may not get to what they wanted it to before the auctions ends. As a seller, unless it's a really low priced item to begin with, it's better to put the item at a level at or close to what you want else you may not get it. I've seen nickel bids drag on for days. Pointless.

As a buyer, your best bet is to wait it out and not bid until the (very) end of the auction. All bidding before the auction ends does is raise the price.

                    all about the bidding

Sometimes it works out in your favor though. I sold a sticker on the bay a couple years ago. It was nothing special, but it sold for $23.00 simply because two people got into a bid war on it.

I thought it was cool... I would have felt like an idiot if I was the person that won it. Oh well.

Kind of had the same thing happen as Kurt did

I had a couple of front fenders for my FJ and decided to sell the worst of the two... started the bid at $.99... While mine was still on auction... I found a NOS fender that obviously was in better shape than the spare I had kept...
I bought the NOS fender for less than $25 (there were no other bids)... and sold my used one for more than $40 because of a bid war...

Yes,I agree that early bids only press the price up. I live in Europe ,so there is a 9 hour time difference from Norway to ebay time. Ebay sellers in USA often end the auctions in the evening US time. That was a big problem for me because that was in the middle of the night for me. Then I found "esnipe.com", and it is like heaven for me: my bids come in late, and I still will be asleep!
Some of you have maybe not heard about esnipe, and I should maybe not told you about it eighter?!! Maybe you will be the one that win next auction before me?
