Rock on Ted.
I could go on about Nam but I think that this is enough.
I agree too and feel the same about the US trying to "USAify" Iraq and the rest of the world.
We went in to get rid of the WMDs and did. Just because they say they didn't find and dosen't matter, there are none there now. We went there to get rid of Saddam. He's gone. They are now free to live like they want to, fighting and killing each other over religon. They are now free, that is their right. We won, let's come home.

I still don't know what France did to deserve the hatred directed towards it. I guess having an independent foreign policy is enough.

A has been rock star who crapped his pants for a week to convince the Army he was too unstable to go to Vietnam transforms himself into a super-patriot. Ted likes to talk big about stomping on America's enemies, and writing stuff like "Bound and Gagged" and toting a gun. Yet when the time came to put his words into action, he turned and ran like the phony he is. Maybe he's overcompensating for his hippy days. I'd be looking for another hero if it was me.

Case in point, someone like Lance Armstrong, who delivers the goods, consistently, without running off at the mouth, instead of being all hat and no cattle.

Enough said. If you don't understand it now.. no amount of explanation to you will make it so. There's a lot of Americans buried on their soil that helped them stay what they are. As soon as the U.S. asks a favor in return... they snub their noses at us and treat US like crap. Any unfavorable words or statements aimed at them are justly deserved in my book. You have your opinion... alot of us have ours.

I think they were trying to pay us back for past times. Don't forget that they helped us in our revolution, but when they were needing us to help them, we refused because of our "neutrality." I make no judgment on the matter. I will remail undecidely neutral. Just try to remain open minded and considder everything.

Ah yes..our wonderful open minded...free speech embracing neighbor to the north.

Fox "News" is easily gotten if you want it, although I can't imagine why you would.

I never questioned Ted's right to speak freely, I just said he's a hypocrite.

"Oh Canada" is an anthem, not a country.

There's also plenty of dead Canadians buried all throughout Europe, which is largely irrelevant to anybody alive today, since it wasn't you or me who did the fighting and dying, nor is it the current French generation who were liberated, nor is it the current German generation who occupied France or the rest of Europe.

Y A W N . . . . .

What ever arm of the Canadian socialist government that control broadcasting...originally threw a fit to stop Fox News. But finally relented to rational thinking.

You've proven my point about some (not all) Canucks that hate the right.

Personally I don't lknow why anyone would watch any network news. I assume you gobble everything the big 3 throw at you...but only reject Fox?

AFAIC...it's all crap. You can't take anything for news anymore because it all has an agenda.

Regarding "Oh Canada" ...that was my point. Think about the lyrics MAC.

And yes...there used to be freedom loving Cahoodians years ago. People that willing laid down their lives to fight the forces of fascism.

How profound and true. My son is attending a prestigious small college in Colorado noted for their robust school of Geoscience. Talking about US news corporations... I feel pity for the poor fool who actually believes what they hear in the news. If I want real news, I get my Dad to pick up a newspaper from his travels all over Europe and the rest of the world. Maximan, you are right, our news is tainted to whatever political slant the corporation is part. What is infinitely worse is the fact that the academy awards, Anna N. Smith, and all the other junk out there takes precedence over what is going on all over the globe. That is my opinion on the matter.

"Just to let everyone know..."

Man... I'm havin' a real hard time staying out of this one.
The targets are so easy. And the more they open their mouths, the more undefended their position becomes!
Yes, everyone is entitled to their own viewpoint, but please, before expressing it to others, try to make sure that there's some substance or fact behind it.
Just spouting forth propagandistic snippets may have worked in the third grade, but hardly shows a grasp of history or that actual thought was involved.
One may be surprised to learn that the "Frenchies" didn't want to be liberated after all. The last thing they wanted was American involvement. (Recall, or maybe you don't, that it was the British that sank the French fleet at Mers-el-Kebir and pushed the French further from the Allied cause)
The economy of the French State, under Petain, was actually an improvement over the defeated Third Republic. (If these concepts are unfamiliar to you, a little studying may be in order)
Germany was a National Socialist state, which is a far cry politically from Fascism. (Again, a little research may prove enlightening)

I won't even discuss WMD, throwing people in meat grinders, gassing his own people... or the other crap that was spoonfed to our "enlightened" and hive-minded public, which they greedily gobbled up like Oprah going off a diet.

Yes, I'm sorry.

Speaking on Franco-American relations, I don't know if you were mentioning me or not.

referring to the French revolution. Just wanted to clarify some stuff.
On that note, I think the constitutional monarchy during the revolution was worse than the absolute monarchy before the revolution. They probably spent more time thinking about how to improve the guillotine than how to correct their gov't. That still applies to several countries today.

I'm well aware of the past and present.

I don't hate the right, I voted Conservative, and probably will again.

None of us were in any danger of speaking German, the Russians saw to that.

The Nazi's couldn't cross the channel, but somehow they were magically going to get an armada capable of conquering North America across the stormiest seas on planet Earth eh? Must have been keeping something in reserve.

I'm not French. Although many of them served heroically in WWII in the Canadian army. Over 100,000 French died in the Resistance, but I guess they don't count. Talk about disrespecting the sacrifice of those who came before you.

I respect what your Grandfather did. My own Grandfather died in a U-boat attack. One of my Great Uncles was killed on the Hood. Another uncle was wounded in Italy. Another was torpedoed three times on convoy duty, once floating for 3 days on a roll of newsprint in the North Atlantic.

Which means absolutely nada, zilch, zero when it comes to other countries forming their own foreign policy 60 years after the fact.

Anyhow, Ted is still an ass. He came to the city where I lived a few years ago to give a speech at a local gun club and proposed to sing the Canadian national anthem, whereupon he began to bleat like a sheep, which I guess is funny to you. That pretty much solidified his a$$h0le status to me.

You seem to have anger issues, and can't deal with anyone who holds a contrary opinion. As far as Canada being a socialist state, the supreme court managed to throw out the law allowing indefinite incarceration without charge a few days ago, so I submit to you we are still quite freedom loving, and are still fighting the latent fascist tendencies within our own country. I wish the same for yours.

For news, I go to

www.amconmag.com when I need some decent Conservative viewpoints minus the bought and paid for bull$hit from any of the corporate news outfits.

When anyone says something as absurd as...and I'm quoting:

"There's also plenty of dead Canadians buried all throughout Europe, which is largely irrelevant to anybody alive today, since it wasn't you or me who did the fighting and dying, nor is it the current French generation who were liberated, nor is it the current German generation who occupied France or the rest of Europe."

Yes Mac. I will have anger issues. Since you claim your grandfather died in WWII...then you of all people should have slapped youself for saying this.

AND...you should have articulated yourself a bit more accurately. You said NOTHING about current foriegn policy when you made this idiotic remark. You simply made this generalized statement of "There's also plenty of dead Canadians buried all throughout Europe, which is largely irrelevant to anybody alive today, "

I may have anger issues on this subject as well I should. At least I have no issues of articulating precisely what I mean.

Prometheus - You maybe Historically/Technically correct. But explain why the French ROARED WITH CHEERS when we liberated Paris...if they did not want us to "butt in".

But I digress. This thread has gone totally O.T. This was meant to be a funny. I love Ted because he says exaactly what he means and holds no punches. I wasn't pissed when I posted the original. Actually I was ROFLMAO when I read the article.

Someone else was obviously irritated by Nuge's remarks. Just look up thread and see who really has the "anger issues".
