  • Why Do motorcyclists crash????

G'day, from one that does not want to re-experience this topic in "hardcopy" form.

Anyone out there like to learn why, where, how, and what causes motorcyclists to crash???? A specialist scientific research consulting company was given the charter to do this project and was funded to the tune of $34,000 from the Motor accident authority of NSW (green slips). This data is specific to the state of NSW here in the land of Oz, but no doubt seeing as we are all fairly similar could easily be correlated to you guys/guyettes over the pond.

    The URL is http://www.lderconsulting.com.au

The 1Mb pdf file titled "Positioned for Safety" Road Safety Strategic Plan 2002-2005 has some verrrrrry interesting data, and makes a great read for a wet and windy day. Similarly, the slideshow presentation comes up well, and even mentions my fav cafe at Mt White, where I tend to disappear to on the odd occasions here at work.

ok fellow riders, see whatcha think of riding a machine downunder and visualise how long you would last on the two wheels given your present riding skill.

    cheers

If it doesn't have an engine, it's not a sport, it's only a game.

      Phill-
Well done publication. Some of the stats are surprising, some expected. Good to see a comprehensive effort involving so many.

"Middle-aged riders" are only 39 years old? Do they have a category for decrepit-aged? How old is THAT? Oz must be the land of the young.

How long would I last downunda? Well, I would need a map to tell me which side of the road I was supposed to be on. Then reminders every so often. I may only need practice, so better send me a ticket, be right down!

Interesting, if macabre reading! I try to read and absorb all such reports that I find, and incorporate it into my riding. Thanks for digging this one up!

          G'day MartyA,
39 is middle aged...middle being 1/2 so expected life span being 78...yeahhhh seems sorta right...although I'm gonna be the exception to the rule cos I'm not leaving this place now that I've found it.

ANNND yer right again MartyA, Oz is the land of the young which is why I got allowed in...hehhehehehe

BTW your ticket is at the airport that I have posted through, you just need to go an collect it...

good reading and take heed of what's been documented...(now why do people say that....ever known any mcyclist go out with the intention of falling off)..
