    I will certainly have to work for "useful and profound" for my posts officially making me Guru status. I was thinking either pics and reports from ultrasonically cleaning my carbs last night, or get my butt in gear and get the hydro clutch coversion finished with pics etc. Until then, I will only be lurking...

          I seem to remember a photo of an XS1100 with a brake caliper mounted to the clutch cover. That would be a way to convert to hydrolic actuation.
          Remove (cut off) the inner (wheel) side of the caliper. You'd have to fabricate a spacer for the caliper piston to push in on the clutch actuator.
          Seems doable. Use the clutch master cylinder from another bike.
