  • And, my neighbor said.....

now all you have to do is ride it. Since I've finished the things I wanted to do to the Pathfinder, well, almost anyway, he thinks I can just ride. I've never done so much cleaning and polishing. The other one was not polished and shiney, just for riding. Guess I should have kept it just for riding and this one covered. Now if I could just do like in the old days, "You wanna ride honey, you gotta polish it". Why don't that work anymore?

      My Motto

If it's a good enough day to clean, (or polish), it's a better day to ride.

I wash my bikes twice a year (Spring to get the salt off, fall to pretreat for the salt), Whether they need it or not.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

          Wash and Wear

My KLX has only had one "hand wash" in the 2.5 years I've owned it. However, I've sprayed the mud off of it many times just using the water hose only. That is just one of the reasons I love commuting to work and back on my KLX. Wet road, road spray, NO PROBLEM! No two hr. hand wash wasted here!! 'Just a quick spray with the water hose, if even that!
As for my XS and my 'Wing, they might get a good hand wash once a month at the most during the riding season.
During this past riding season, I've taken the "lazy man's" approach to washing the 'Wing. I've been using S100 Total Cycle Cleaner in a spray can. Just spray on the S100, wait a few minutes and then spray it off with the water hose. No spotting and it does a real good job too. It's the next best thing to a good hand wash job, and is a heck of a lot quicker -- -- -- to say the least.
I think dwales has the right idea and hit the nail on the head!
However, if you've been commuting in the rain last week and now it's sunny outside and the Poker Run begins in a couple of hours; try my lazy man's solution: S100 Total Cycle Cleaner -- -- spray on, hose off and you're finished! [except maybe some drying time].
          Ride Safe,
          Greg
