  • How much do you ride per year?

I wonder how many miles others ride per year. I bought the '79 Standard in April '05 and it had 46,000 miles on the odometor and when I sold it in Dec '06 it had 63,000 miles on it. I did find that the speedo was about 5 MPH fast, but I don't know how to accurately compensate for that so I would say that I rode about 10,000 miles/year, all for fun. Since I do field service work and can't do my work from the MC, and work from home so there is no riding to work every day.

I just wondered if there was others who like to ride as much as I do.

Generally I ride about 20,000 miles/year. Sometimes way more, sometimes less. Never enough....

Because your spedo is fast, that doesn't necessarily mean your mileage is over. Someone correct me if I am wrong. I don't know If the spedo drive is off, or the speed indicator is off. Anyway. I have acquired 4 bikes this past summer +1 that my dad bought originally. I don't know for sure, but for me personally( not my Dad) I have put at least 20k and most likely in the high 20's between all 4 running bikes just since this summer. I think that comes from a lot of : taking the long way home. Like taking a 5 mile straight trip home to a 10 mile highway ride. THose long trips around the local lake at night.

I put over 5000 on my Valkyrie last year, about three thousand on the XS, several on the Connie, and that included time off for knee surgery. I'd put on a lot more, but I have a company car that I have to drive to work most of the time.

Between 6,000 to 10,000 + a year, if it's not raining when I get up in the morning I'm riding and if it rains later in the day I get alitttle wet when I stop. So I try to keep moving and let the fairing keep the rain off me.

Time is a large problem for me. I think that since I got my bike up and running, I have put on maybe 5k in 3 years. I just don't go for very many long distance rides. I wish I had the free time. Someday...

Probably 4-5K year. My odometer crapped out last year on a day trip with TC, so I really don't know for sure, but I would agree with the "not enough" comment. Two and a half more years at my job and they can kiss my a** and you will see the mileage take a big jump. These bikes are almost like having a girlfriend, and you know you can never spend too much time with her, right?

I would say you are lucky if you have a girlfriend like that. Though, you can never spend enough working or riding on an XS.

Around 10k on the H, adn 3k or so on the SG. To my personal horror the BMW got 13k last year, but I think that is just because both the XS's were down at the start of the year.

This year I am putting the BMW in storage, and plan on about 8k on the SG this year, since my former Pillion now has her own ride and I don't need somewhere for her to sit.

Gave me an excuse to buy stuff for the SG too.
I've been in more than one Hemisphere, and I wrote a book to help you do it too (or just prepare better for that week long road trip). Going Small, not just for the little guys.

I've put over 40K on daily ride since I got it running. That has been over three years. I did have one quick, long trip this past summer, about 7,200 miles in 13 days.
I have been traveling a little more for work, so I don't get to ride as much now. But then, it would be hard to ship the bike to Hawaii just for a 6 day stay.( and that IS for work! )

Over 550 miles/day average for 13 consecutive days? You have to be one tough dude. That's cross country and back with some sight-seeing both ways during a two week vacation. My hat's off to you and I kind of doubt any other members will be able to touch that endurance record. Did you make that trip on the same tires, oil, valve adjustment, etc or was there some maintenance on the way? I'm planning a long trip a couple of years from now when I retire, but at a much more leisurely pace.

Not enough is right! At least not since I crashed my last daily rider a few years ago. I'll tell you when I get one of these projects on the road!!
I have a lot of good friends that let me put some miles on theirs on occasion. We do a men's trip in late summer and usually get 12-1500 miles in over the course of 4 days. That's a pretty good time, even on a loaner.
                            sorry, no signature--illiterate!!

Put under 15,000 on my 80G last year and just 1,269 on the "hot rod".

After I get a few things straightened out on the "hot rod" either going to sell it or ride it big time.

Getting a little closer on the MNS restore... Hope to have it done this summer and make it my daily ride
