  • NASCAR race in California

This is kind of cool, I won a trip for two to the California Speedway! Airfare, rent a car, Hotel, race tickets, pit and garage passes, even a cam corder to record it all.

Leaving on Feb 24 and returning Feb 26, all free! I have been doing the NASCAR racepoints program ( Nascar racepoints program )and they picked 10 winners for this contest.

1 of the 10 also get a all-access weekend at Charlotte 5/18/2007 for the Nextel All-Star Challenge.

Anybody live in LA, Fontana, San Bernadino area? I need some travel advise to get the 70 miles from LAX to Fontana in Friday rush hour traffic (4-5pm) with a rent a car. (I know good luck, right)

Also if any body wants to bring thier XS by the Hotel I would like to ride it around the block to get California off my list of states to ride in

    Gary,
Sorry, but I'm in Northern California, so I can't help. I do think you need to ride your OWN bike out to check off California as a state you've ridden in!

      To Fontana?

You could get to my place pretty easy, ride my bike around for a little while, then go to Fontana when the traffic is lighter. Take 105 East to 605 South to 91 East to Imperial Hwy, then call me. I live close to the 91 Fwy. If this sounds like a plan to you, I'll PM you with further information.

Well normally I would, but when somebody flys you out there, you gotta try. We intend to come back and do all the states the right way, after retirement .

Gary, How was the race weekend?

It was great, pace car ride and pit area tours were fun, we had a blast. Being at the stage with all the drivers and Celebs was fun. Even staying at the same hotel as some of the race teams was cool. What did Fran think of it? I wish we had better seats for the actual race, though.

Traffic sucked, 2 hours+ from LAX to San Bernardino Hilton. The morning trafic on Monday was a breeze, we just stayed in the HOV lane most of the time. We actually got lost witht he help of our TomTom (OK my fault) and ended up downtown near the Staples Center.

But the flight back was a nightmare. After our flight to Chicago was cancelled (and Then stood in line 2.5 hours) We ended up getting a standby flight to Boston, then had to switch airlines and take a prop job from Boston to Syracuse. We got home Tuesday at 1pm. Our luggage is still MIA. We think it is in Syracuse now but somehow a different name is on the scan log (number matches our tags though) so maybe in a day or two.

I got tons of photos, we went up to the mountains (rim of the world Highway) on Sat Morning and got to exercise our Pontiac G6 rent a car in some of the corners. Will post the photos someplace online in the next week.

Only spoke with Francine briefly on the phone so far, but her comments were much the same. Loved the pace car ride and hated the travel issues (auto and air) Sounds like she had a great time!
Let us know where to find your pics!

I wish we would have been able to do this but they never even gave us a timetable until after we checked in. We were so late and tired getting in on Friday that all we wanted to do was sleep. I brought the computer in case we had time to do anything, but driving in the traffic was unprdictable and we were afraid we would miss something. Nice roads once you get out of the 'basin', I will be back (with a bike I hope). Thanks for the offer.

                          Great pics...

I would appear that you DO like the mountains around here. Me too, many good rides around here and in the summer it's a relief from the heat to go either to the beach or to the mountains, either bikini clad girls or great twisties.
